What was the Cavs preseason record last year? About the same, right? But I don't remember them getting blasted every time though.

"Sources said the roster flexibility has the Cavs involved in some trade talks with other teams with too many guaranteed contracts."

Ahh, yes. Those always reliable Beacon Journal NBA sources. Keep the rumors coming, babe!

1.75 million buys an awful lot of good NBA players these days. Teams have some excellent talent at the 16 and 17 positions on the bench, too.

I wonder if a team that reached the finals has ever had a worse offseason.

If the Cavs try to play with this roster they assembled, I predict a 42-40, a seventh seed and bounced from the play offs in round 1.If you look at what Boston did in the offseason compared to the Cavs, Boston is now a serious contender for the eastern conference championship, and the Cavs are gearing up for a very disappointing season.(I hope Im wrong)

Anderson Varejao and Sasha Pavlovic were sure missed last night. The Cavs look unorganized, and lacked any energy during the game. They played like they knew they would lose to Boston.

A$$ LeBron James can't do it all, and it showed again last night. Meanwhile, Boston showed how much they have improved.

Cheap A$$es Gilbert and Ferry had better sign both Anderson Varejao and Sasha Pavlovic quick before this season goes completely away.

The ESPN analysts sure put it to the Cavs Management just like I have been doing. The Cavs were not even listed in the Eastern Conference teams capable of making the Finals. Boston, Chicago, Detroit, NJ, and Indiana are all better then the Cavs. They even commented he's headed to NY after his 3 year contract.

Cleveland loses again. It's a shame to get so close then let money prevent you from getting to the promised land and NBA Championship.

The CAVS are LOSERS !!!

EVERY analyst last night said the cavs cannot and should not pay AV 10...or Sasha 30 mil over 5 years. Neither is worth it. What concerened me more is that the offense once again looks bad.

unless i misunderstand the issue, the nba has a salary cap with exceptions. paying a lot of money for varejao and pavlovic may help us now, but will tie us up badly in future periods. its not that gilbert is unwilling to spend the money! if you tie yourself up financially just to get last years team, i dont think that's good enough. it may be better to wait to see how things play out, even at the risk of a bad first half. plus varejao and pavlovic may still fold or sign a 1 year deal thats affordable.

I want a winner for Cleveland and the Cavs are not acting like one. Smart GMs know how to get around the cap and Ferry obviously isn't one of them. Blog on.

The Cavs have the same problem as in the past, very soft in the middle on defense. Memo to Danny Ferry, soft teams do not win championships, just ask Don Nelson. Nelson had very good regular season teams since his time in Milwaukee to his time in Dallas to his two stints at Golden State and NO championships even though David Stern is trying his best with rule changes to promote soft play ground type ball. The Cavs must address the weakness in the middle to win it all.

No point guard (on a team where the only guy who can pass is their best scorer).

No cash to spend.

Hughes and Marshall look awful to me no matter what anyone says.

Ferry's job is on the line.

This is a 40 - 42 team

Going into another year without a true point guard. This is GM malpractice and Ferry has to go.WhenBryan Colangelo first arrived in Toronto ho traded for T.j.Ford and gave up a good power forward and they went from last to first. It is unbelievable that we do not have a point guard. Most teams have one and a veteram backup. We have not had a point guard who could even give out 5 assists per game since Lebrob arrived'

Steve's right. No PG means no wins. There are a bunch still available. We could get either Luke Ridnour or Earl Watson from Seattle. Portland has an extra & so does Houston.

It's beginning to look like the Curse of Danny Ferry. He's done it to us twice now.

And WHO are you going to trade for a point guard?

Can anyone honestly say that when we signed Larry Hughes that we would get this!!! OR that Marshall and Jones would lose thir shooting strokes after they used the penman strokes. Why is everyone panicking? There were only a few teams that made any moves anyway and you know why, becasue they're salary strapped just like us. Even with the monies available Andy's worth $5mil at best and Sasha maybe 3-4mil. I don't care about Newble or Snow's deals because Ferry didn't make them, he inherited them and if we ever are to get any better the buck has to stop somewhere. You know, this could have all been avoided, pg issues I'm talking of now, if we had just drafted Jameer Nelson instead of Luke Jackson, anothe Jim Paxson screw up.

OMG, said that Ferry should find ways AROUND the cap...you mean like Kevin Mchale did with Joe Smith? LMAO

I cannot believe that TRUE Cavs fans...not fairweathers....can't see this for what it is. You have two cats asking for too much dam money! Period. Notice NO team made them an offer..because NO team can give anyone 10 million a year right now.(unless its a player that falls under the Bird Rule) I don't blame Ferry at all for this particular move. A lot of the cavs roster will be easy to move next year because many deals will be expiring. This year...we may have to suck it up....

This would all be a moot point if Hughes could give the Cavs 19PPG every night.
