Heat big loser in luxury tax, too

Although it's not exactly Bear Stearns in degree, the Heat wound up almost as much of a loser with the NBA 's luxury tax as in the standings. Full Story

How could the Heat be this bad, and still go over the luxury tax? To think the majority of fans were hoping the team would be able to add a significant free agent next season. All we can do now is hope Miami drafts a player who will provide the same type of impact that Dwayne Wade has.

Arison is the richest owner in sports and taxes paid for two stadiums for the team and sold out for like 3 years straight, no need to worry about that tax.

THis is the reason why Riley hasn't won since he left LA (except 3 years ago with Shaq. He compiles so-called veteran throw-aways for 5-10 million instead of developing and giving a chance to the young players. He instead wrecks the young players and goes out and gets broken down/thrown away players that are washed up or never-been. But, veteran player of any quality is going to demand 5 to 10 million (like williams), and even guys like parker cost them 3 million per season. And they are not even the above average players. And when you add them up it cost a lot...so he can't afford the real free agents that can really help them. That is why Riley is out of touch with this generation of basketball. Smart teams like Spurs and Detroit that put competitive every year have top players, a few veteran supporting cast, and a few young players. That keeps it a balanced team on and off the court, talent, age, atheleticism, experience. Riley has done a terrible job of coaching this year...during the first few games this year with Wade out, HEat were winning only with Quinn and Wright starting with Shaq...and Cook playing consistent minutes. that seemed to be a consistent formula for Heat winning this year....but, Riley goes away from that...and ends up winning 14 games with all that experience and all that talent he paid for. But, still...14 wins of coaching is better than the job he has done as the president of the Heat. He might have even outdone Isaiah Thomas.
