Riley does not believe in developing players or on new players he is like the old man that always tells his daughters "I told you not to date that guy or that guy" ... in his case, I knew that if I go without the veterans sooner or later these new or developig players will let me down.

Well, how much more letting you down and hung up to dry with 20 million than with the Shaq who just has never taken care of himself knowing that a big fram like him he must stay in shape and keep at it. I think they should wipe the slate clean and Riley retire upstairs as a consultant and start the whole thing new. He is still looking for another bunch of Laker superstars to take him to the promised land. But he put all his money into one old aging player.

I guess Pat Riley knew when Shaq's talent level declined enough Mark Blount would begin to look good.

well i agree with riley on this one. the nba is PROFESSIONAL basketball not streetball, theres a lot of money involved. in the workforce, no boss is going to want to hire an employee with ZERO experience.......

I have a gut feeling that Riley is trying to trade for Jason Kidd

Why would someone give you a top-20 pick and a superstar for a D-League player? WTF

Mark Blount has proven, given the opportunity to play, he clearly has the ability to provide a balanced effort and contribute significantly.

"Forward Michael Beasley, who left the game Monday after banging his knee, said he would play tonight with kneepads on, as Spoelstra wants.

"Oh, yeah," he said. "I got them on right now and I didn't even practice today.""

I thought that was a funny line. You gotta love Beasley.. just like a kid in a candy store.

I also agree with your assessment of Riley and young players.. I always make the point if Riles would not have given up the head coaching job to SVG back in '04 D. Wade would be D. Wright. He would have been riding the pine all year and never got to fully develop and prove the type of player he is. For all the recent success Riley has had with the draft I can only imagine what this team would like now if he didn't WASTE 2 years of draft picks ('04 & '05) on guys who couldn't play on my sons city league team.

Coach Spoelstra has impressed me not only with the flexibility of his practices and rotation but with the confidence to have an NBA team play as much zone defense as i've ever seen. He has kept the defensive philosophy of Riley and added the moset effective zone defense in the league. He looked at his roster, saw how undersized it was and came up with a winning strategy. Keep it up!!!

It's great to coach a team with The best, or 1 of the best, player in the world.

It may be great to coach a team with "the best," but it is not easy. The coach has to earn the respect and the trust of such player. Remember when Michael Jordan went to the top and requested (demanded) that they get rid of Doug Collins? He is still likes Collins as a friend, but not as a coach. Remember when Magic Johnson went to Jerry West and requested that Paul Westhead be removed from the head coaching position, giving a chance to a certain Pat Riley?

A coach earns his stripes the same way a player earns his minutes. Trial and error, learn as you go and know which side of the toast you put the butter on.
