Jul 28, 2009 Full story: New York Post 11

The one rumor that is tough to deny is if the Knicks want be a factor in the 2010 free agent class, they would have to show that they are at least taking steps towards becoming a contender.

Nate, Duhon and Lee are the team. Why does D'Antoni keep hyping his obvious favorite Gallinari? The other guys played long and hard and need to remain on the team. Coach keeps bringing up his favorite Gallinari every chance he gets in every interview....sickening....

Well said, I been die-ing to say that.
Duhon, Nate, Chandler, and Lee are the 4 players u build this Knick Team around.
The 4 platers may not be a big 2010 Star FA or a NBA starter....but the chemistry and meshing these 4 players showed in their first season performing together game after game has showed in a 82 game season they are 30 mpg players which EARNED a second season together.
Many people are saying the 4 players played well b/c of Dantoni's offensive system, but that is bull.....b/c in Nate & Lee's rookie season the two players out-performed Dantoni's Phoenix Suns for a Knick win under the million lineup changes coach Larry Brown.

I feel sorry for Gallo with all the pumping Dantoni been doing with his name as if his talents measure up to Kobe, Lebron, Wade, or Howard. No matter how much behind close doors private training with NBA players and coaches that Dantoni has set-up for Gallo in the last year to get his skills up to NBA level it still will depend on Gallo's "heart of confidence" to perform in the NBA.
Gallo was not a Top 10 pick in the 2008 draft class, maybe in the 2009 draft class....but not the 2008...

Gallinari will never be a star in the NBA. More than likely his career will be as a 6th man. Yes, he can shoot and is a decent passer and can play the passing lanes on defense but he cannot play man to man defense, he's slow footed (in an up tempo offense), and has difficulties getting his own shots. Walsh is a fool if he banks signing big names with talent evaluators like that running the show. The Knicks are only marginally better than when Isaiah ran the show.

I was one of those that got excited last fall of the chances for a post season last year. INstead Walsh/D'Anton decided that a possible one round of the playoffs wasn't worth the effort and dismantled the team after 11 games, and then twice more. All they got for their efforts was the 8th pick in a draft with maybe 4 stars. What will be more appealing to 2010 Free Agents a team that hasn't made the playoffs in 6+ years or one that has at least made one? they have managed to make the Nets players (lopez, Harris) more recognizable than the Knicks in New York. way to go new regime!!!

it's hard to say. they gave up a year of being competive for the 8th pick in the draft. All the players are on notice that only Galinari and Chandler are locks to be there in 2010. How do you get that team motivated? How do you get fans to give a crap while waiting for 2010? Suppose all the top FA's say no thanks to NY? Lee played hard
on teams going no where and was rewarded with a one year contract just before camp.

Well its a good thing they got Lee,and Robinson back, their the fan favorites, and they get the crowd hype, and if the crowd is hype, then that will give the knicks energy to play, and if the knicks have energy, then they will win games

This affair with Walsh/Dantoni and their 2010 Plan is all talk of a forward plan, but their actions are moving backwards.
There was to much media gossip about Gallo all offseason long and nothing else, why?

Instead of assigning a couple of coaches to work-out with Eddy Curry over the summer to improve his passing, rebounding, and post-up skillz, management/coach ask Curry to just lose a little weight on his own.
Instead of inviting Kidd & Hill, what about Rasheed & Iverson they would've been ten times better (rebounding and peremeter shooters).
The MLE was important to use this offseason for the upgrading of the team.
The resigning of Lee & Nate took months to long to show all the uncertainess in management/coach trust with players.

I still wish the knicks would've sign Iverson, hes instant offense, and one of the best scorers in the game.

they
dumped players like Crawford and Zach who was leading NBA in rebounds at the time and top 10 scorer (20/10 guy) because they weren't part of the future. Rasheed and most FA's wil be looking to go to a contender not a team that hasn't seen playoffs in over six years. NOthing much wwill change in 2010 except the excuses.
