Full story: LA Daily News

Jrue Holiday spent a few weeks training in Florida, worked out for one team and draft prognosticators now have the UCLA guard being selected as high as No.

Who's kidden who? Holiday in the top 10 of the upcoming NBA draft, How weak of a draft must this years be? There are 10 better players than Holiday in the Pac 10. Let me break it down after watching every secon of every minute of every game this past season.

1. Barely average speed. Was not able to stay with some of the faster gaurds in pac ten play. Average first step with a fairly slow change of direction and poor double team foot work. Speed grade = c+

2. Jumping ability average. Simply can't get up. This is why he is a weak rebounder and can not contest mid range or low post shot atempts. This also affects his finish on break away and 2 on 1 fast break opportunities.
Hops grade = b-

3. Shooting touch not bad leaning into the basket mid range area but pulling up mid range or from collage three range drastically inconsistant. Lacks confidence in shot despite playing the two spot last year for Ben Howland.
Shooting grade = c+

4. Ball handeling skills average against faster defender. Loses control consistantly on his "head down cross over" move that rarely broke down his defender. Does see the floor well but that alone does not make up for his lack of dynamic ball handeling skills.
Handeling skills grade= c+

One more year at UCLA running the point and working on his ball handeling and assist skills would benifit Holiday greatly. If he goes in the top 15- 20 this draft must be extremely shallow of talent.

He will be a "Flop" in the NBA.

Couldn't shoot in College and got burned countless times on defense. Overated. Potential...ya, right.

Teddybruin, I agree with everything except for the bad rebounding line... What have you been smoking? The best pound-for-pound rebounder last year, great timing and hands, got many rebounds that guards just aren't supposed to be able to get. I don't know what rebounding numbers you were expecting from a 2/1 guard

I want to see all UCLA players lottery picks as a recruiting incentive. And the financial difference between the lottery and the top 30 is over $1 million per year. Returning to play one more year to play at UCLA would sacrifice income production year of at least $1 Mill. But if the following year his inclusion into the "lottery" is realized and more likely than at present, his first year salary would be guaranteed and $2 Million. Financially, it is close to being a draw.

And with regret and apologies, I did not see an NBA quality player in his freshman year. At best he is a highly talented project. A good year next year converts the project into an NBA contributor the following season!

they're joking right?
his feet were slow, didnt committ to playing defense, and averaged about 5 PPG in the Pac-10. Yet, he's going to be a #3 pick?

He didnt even want to committ to playing UCLA/Howland style type basketball ( Defense first, hustle), but now he's magically going to turn it on for the NBA?
he's not Russell Westbrook, nor is he Collison.
he needs to focus on staying at UCLA and working on getting better.

Even though he would be better suited staying in Westwood for another year, Jrue is a Bruin and I wish him the best! I think he does have the talent but only his determination will tell...

These were similiar sentiments I had back in 2004 when a one-and-done left the Bruins to try his hand in the pros. I thought it may be the wrong move back as he had not proved too much as a Bruin yet but never-the-less wished him. You may have heard of him, his name is

Yes, and Trevor should have stayed for one more year. One more year at UCLA and he would have been a top 10 pick. Instead, he was picked 42nd and spent his first years in the NBA as a part time player.

All great points Al, but I say again, if nothing is "officially" in place, you have to go along with the player's (and his family) decision. Trevor persevered and hopefully will now reap the benefits of work and determination.

I am all for players having to stay for a FR and SO year in college before the leap to the pros.
