"Here's a trade idea. How about we trade Love for O.J. Mayo."

Why do people think the trade was Kevin Love for O.J. Mayo? There was a lot more to that trade that favored the Wolves than that. In large part the Grizzlies had to take some bad contracts (including Antoine Walker and Marko Jaric) off the Wolves hands. I know people who don't follow the NBA and like to bash the Wolves don't understand this, but bad contracts (money that counts against the salary cap for underperforming players and may last several years) only go away over time or by getting some other team to agree to take them from you. They typically balance out trades that may seem one-sided or by anyone desperate to get a specific player in a deal.

And by the way as part of the Love-Mayo trade the Wolves also got Mike Miller, the same guy the Miami Heat just signed fore $5 million to after basically giving away Michael Beasley to the Wolves.

Had a minor NBA epiphany a couple weeks ago in Canal Park, Duluth while watching a free documentary flick about the history of Great Lakes ore boats which referred to the boats as "lakers" several times. After all these years realized the name Lakers wasn't just because we have a lot of lakes here. They were named for the ore boats.

Am old enuff to have actually seen a Laker's game when they were in Minnesota... tho it was in Rochester... MN... not NY.

Also saw the Minnesota Muskies ABA, but that's another story.

Also saw a documentary movie at the Marlow Theater in Pine River MN about the interesting series between the Minneapolis Lakers & the Harlem Globetrotters. The End

We trade the whole T-wolves organization for a bottle of Hennesey. Sounds like a win right there.

I am from Big 12 country and lived there during the time Beasley played at K-State.

From what I heard from K-State fans, he was a classic case of someone with all the talent in the world, but a bad attitude and bad work ethic.

During his time in Miami he was fined numerous times by the team for violating rules. He was thrown out of the NBA's rookie symposium for smoking pot. He took another picture of himself for the internet with a new tattoo- and a bag of week laying in the background.

He's a problem child who Miami is probably more than happy to recoup most of their losses on.

In Al's defense (oxymoronic when talking about Al), he signed the contract after a big year in which he averaged 20+ points and 11 rebounds. It's not his fault he blew out his knee the subsequent season. That injury doesn't allow full recovery until the 2nd year after surgery (just like football players with the same injury), so he should be back to normal this season, which means, 22-25 points and 11-15 rebounds per game, a great lost-post player (albeit a bit of a black hole, shades of Kevin McHale), who plays indifferent defense. They should keep him, unless they can trade him for a very good guard, which seems unlikely because most teams aren't going to trade away a good guard.

Another trade that is awesome....for the other team.
I guess it wouldn't matter about the future first rounder since the Wolves almost always pick the wrong guy or trade a good player away for a lousy one.

Everything I've said about Kahn in true: in way over his head.

Kahn is becoming a joke.

Now he has outdone McHale. He is trading players so fast, the roster has no consistancy at all. And trading away your #1 picks for players that could not start on playoff teams when you are always drafting in the top 6 is just plain stupid. It's like a revolving door here. Go away for two weeks and the guy has traded or is in the process of trading, demoting, releasing most of the starting lineup. With the Wolves record, this would normally be a good thing, if the team was making moves to improve. It isn't. Kahn needs to go.
