I like his enthusiasm, but I think most people are taking the "wait and see" approach with the Pacers.
We have a new coach who brings a new style of play, but the core of players is still the same.
People are saying "show me" before they go back to the fieldhouse. They've been "burned" by this group before.
I think it's pretty simple. Show some consistent effort and desire out there and people will come back.
I don't care if you miss an open shot, but someone (other than Foster) dive for a loose ball and show that you care and that's when people will start caring again.
Remember the season when Artest, JO, and Jackson got suspended? Ok, that's a dumb question, we all remember that.
That was the year when they made the playoffs playing Reggie and a bunch of backups who left their hearts out there every night. The crowd really rallied around that team and even with the suspensions it was fun being a Pacers fan.
So Pacers, it's really simple:
Actions speak louder than words, show me!

Dear Coach: Ever here of the Detroit pistons and LA Lakers? With a little talent and their big crying towels they won and made "great" talents....
Wake up...the league is a fix... let'em ALL play and earn their money!

If we put O'neal and Tinsley on the bench, I promise we would do better.

OK, I have to chime in on this one. You are one ignorant jerk!
You don't actually watch the game do you? He moves without the ball better than anyone out there. He is the best passer on the team bar none. He is the smartest player. He has been TOLD to shoot when he's open just like Granger, Williams, Rush and Murphy have. When have you seen him force a bad shot?
Idiot!

Point Guards are NOT playing well at all for the Pacers ...

Tinsley - FG (31%) 3FG (25%)

Diener - FG (29%) 3FG (22%)

Owens - FG (20%) 3FG (00%)

Daniels - FG (29%) 3FG (00%)

Good thing you called me an idiot and ignorant jerk--you didn't have a rational argument until you played that hand."When have you seen him force a bad shot?" Who's in dreamland now? I know he's white so people like you are going to defend him, but he needs some work. I'll grant you that he is by far not the biggest problem on this team, that would be Nickel Bag Tinsley and J.O.

Maybe start Diener in the 3rd quarter

Granted, he is not shooting well, but he sets up his teammates well and has a 3.25 to 1 assist to TO ratio.

Dunleavy playes hard. I like to watch him play - not because he's white, but because he knows basketball. He plays within the team concept. Granger is fun to watch also. J.O. is fun to watch when he's into it and rolling, but he's got a lot of rust to shake off. Tinsley is fun to watch too, until he tries to go to the hole and forces it with nothing there. It was fun to see Murphy making 3's but what happened to enjoying being told to be mean and nasty this year? He hasn't been too intimidating so far. Instead he lingers on the perimeter.

Also, we have got to REBOUND the ball. It's great to run but we have to get the ball first before half the team heads downcourt. People aren't even following their shots. They are taking off downcourt only to have their long clanks come right to where they had been if they had followed their shots.

I also agree that the fans are lame in the games. I was at the Miami game and basically the crowd was a non-factor until the final 3 minutes of the game. We need more fans who are willing to get a little loud and that will help others come out of their shell.

The positive thing here is... maybe Harrison will realize how much an impact he could have been if he kept his cool. We will move forward from this, just hope Harrison does too.

Name a point guard in this league that does shoot and play well when there isn't a pure shooter on the team

Dunleavy knows basketball because he played for the greatest coach of all time in college at duke. We all know Coach K can teach the game the best so thats why Dunleavy knows what he is doing. Oh yea not to mention he grew up around the game with his dad being a coach and player also. Hopefully Coach Obrien realizes this and runs the offense around Dunleavy and Granger. Oneal isnt as bad as everyone is putting him out to be, just cuz he isnt playing too good right now give him a break... he still plays good D and steps in there to take those charges better than anyone.

Good points Fred. Plus the kid {Mike D.) believes in playing as a team...a concept strange to a large number of todays pro players. Hang in there Pacers. Wish you the best.
