Pacers retain their cool, put halt to losing streak

Full story: The Indianapolis Star

There was no buckling this time for the Indiana Pacers. There was just a simple third-quarter timeout that didn't involve any kind of motivational speech or yelling.

Finally they close out a game...I guess when you're winning by 25 it isn't that hard though. I was glad to see Williams actually get some minutes too. He showed potential, but he still looked lost on the floor. The minutes will do him good.

I'm still sick of the Pacers being on the wrong side of the ref's whistle. They are still prejudice against O'Neal and the everyone, but especially O'Neal. I'm not trying to bitch (because I've been used to this) but its annoying. I'm all about fairness and will admit when the Pacers get away with something (ala Bucker), but some of the calls are two-sided.

Way to go, Pacers! You proved me wrong by beating the Jazz! You really can play when you put your hearts in it. Why don't you play like that every game? It was fun to watch last night. The beginning of the third quarter was a little scary, but, this time, you hung in there and built the lead back up. I thought the defense on the Jazz was great. Keep it up now!

Hey, where are all those Golden State fans talking smack about how great they are with Harrington and Jackson in the fold? Saw the linescore the other night, and ol' buddy Austin Croshure had another DNP - Coach's Decision night. Have to wonder if he has any gas left in the tank.

Ya IU Guy 68, funny how we can't close a game with a 24 points, but can with a 25 point lead.
The difference for me was O'Squeal not turning his back to the basket and 4 quarters of hustling defense with nearly every perimeter shot challanged. Flimsly has been trying to up-tempo every game... maybe the rest of them finally get it.
When O'Squeal takes the inlet pass and start backing down to the basket everybody in the free world knows what happens next - we need to take that play out the playbook. Face-up O'Squeal and you'll get 3-4 more assists per game.

Good win. Hopefully they can build on it. If they get point guard play like that...consistently....they'll win a whole bunch of games. If they had point guard play like that for the last week they would have only lost a couple of those games.

Daniels finally got a chance to create space (where there seems there is no space) and play his game. Williams was excellent and does deserve the minutes. Especially when he puts in the effort defensively like he did last night.

Surprise...surprise. An enjoyable game, with a more enjoyable ending. Had expected to watch the PACERS colapse again, but that sure didn't happen. Maybe a little at the start of the second half. And against one of the premier western clubs. Just goes to show you that 'team effort' wins games. I hope O'Brien has a tape of this game, and shows it to his players at every practice. INSPIRING!!!!!

Closing out the game hasn't been a theme just this year, but has been for a number of past seasons. Tonight was a great win over one of the leagues best, and if we can keep up our quick tempo play throughout the game, we can make our way to the top of the league yet again.

I was at the Nuggets game, and I noticed we started losing once we pounded the ball down to JO and expected him to create offense. Then we started missing shots. We went to a completely different game plan rather than keep the one that got us the huge lead. I still think it's time to trade JO, because we've played well without him, and if we can get back a few more team player/draft picks in return, we can keep building on a good thing we have.

Enough of the silly names. Get over yourself. You make good points but weaken your argument with the silly crap.

O'Neal just needs to realize what is needed of him and do just that. Instead of doing what he used to do to help the old Reggie Miller Pacers win, he needs to do what O'Neal is needed to do to help THESE Pacers win. This will be a team based on what the coach can get them to do because we dont have a "franchise player". This is no longer a players team but a coaches team. Maybe this is what the franchise will need in the future to get to the top of that mountain be have been trying to climb back to since the end of the ABA.

What I'm trying to say is sometime within the next 10 years, when you think of the Pacers you will think of them as O'Briens team rather than some great player that can't do it on his owns's team. Somebody will agree with this, hopefully it will be the players of this team. If it becomes a tradition we will get us that first NBA championship banner in the rafters.

Ok Pacer Pontiff, I won't be me, I'll make you happy and be like you..... Lighten up man, who really cares.

Tonights game will be a good test to see if the up-tempo is real or a mirage and the same on perimeter defense..... Let Bryant have his shot, keep him off the line and work on the other 4.
