I LIKE THE NEW PACERS WHO ARE GETTING TO PLAY. I STILL THINK THE PACERS SHOULD TRADE "WHOMEVER" FOR A SUPERSTAR THAT MIGHT BE AVAILABLE. IT'S PRETTY OBVIOUS THAT WE, AS WE NOW STAND, WILL PROBABLY BE A 50-50 CLUB BY SEASON'S END. THIS MEANS MAKING THE PLAYOFFS AGAIN, WITH AN EARLY EXIT. HOW BOUT O'NEAL AND TINSLEY FOR CURRY AND FRANCIS. EVEN THROW IN DAVID HARRISON SINCE IT'S PRETTY OBVIOUS HE'S NOT GONNA PLAY MUCH FOR US.

- While I would love to see what the Pacers could get for Tinsley and Harrison, we could get much more than Curry and Francis if JO were in the mix (which he never will be).

Perhaps Donnie and Larry should consider sending Tinsley and Harrison to Memphis for Chucky Atkins and either Sromile Swift or Brian Cardinal.

It makes sense for both teams. Tinsley is a thorn in the side of the Pacers as they try to clean up their image and Harrison has potential but is stuck behind a very productive front court (JO, Murphy, Foster, and Diogu). Tinsley upgrades Memphis' back court and Harrison provides youth and potential (especially if Memphis plans on dealing Pao Gasol).

Atkins is getting older but his expiring contract is attractive. The Pacers could look in this year's draft to address their point guard needs and Atkins/Armstrong would be a decent band-aid for the short term. Swift and Cardinal have been a disappointment in Memphis. Their contracts are close enough to match Tinsley's.

The trade makes sense for the Pacers because they're dumping Tinsley's salary and all his distractions in return for a decent short-term band-aid as they look to draft a point guard for the future (there are some very intriguing pg's in the 2007 draft - Marquette's Soph. Dominic James, Texas A&M's Senior Acie Law, Texas' Frosh. D.J. Augustin, Ohio State's Frosh. Mike Conley). They also get a solid backup player in Stromile Swift or Brian Cardinal.

Memphis gets youth, potential, and better players from the deal. They would also be dumping the disappointing play of Swift or the contract of Cardinal.

All-in-all, I would love to see the Pacers do what they can to get rid of Tinsley and his distractions.

While I agree getting rid of Tinsley is the right move, Stromile Swift does not appear to be the answer for the Pacers if they truly are looking to deal at the break.

Atkins is intriguing for the short term, and I agree the team should turn to the draft for future production at the one spot.

However, I think the Pacers could do better. It would be financially possible for the Pacers to acquire Paul Pierce (that is if Boston has any intention of unloading him) for four players: Tinsley, Jeff Foster, David Harrison and Shawne Williams. I'm sure Boston would rather have Danny Granger in place of Williams, but when you think about it, it really isn't all that bad of a deal either way. The Pacers would have to look to acquire a big man, however, losing all the size they would in the potential deal.

However they do it, trading Tinsley does not appear to be a bad idea, even if it is to the team that originally drafted him nearly six years ago.

trade 4 ray allen or paul gasol. Bird has to do something. I don't understand, why we are taking so long to be a playoff contender. To me Bird needs to be acountable. Bad trades on his on turf.
