Varejao likely to fill Wallace's shoes tonight

Full story: Akron Beacon Journal

INDEPENDENCE: If the Cavaliers are to reclaim some ground in their NBA Eastern Conference semifinal series at Quicken Loans Arena tonight, they're going to have to do it without forward Ben Wallace.

Anderson Varejao always seems lost on the court. Give him credit, he does run around a lot and looks like he's doing something. The problem is his offensive skills are "ZERO". Can't shoot or dribble. When he's on the floor with Daniel Gibson his only job should be to set picks so "Booby" can get a shot off. Gibson IS the Cav's best shooter and should take at least 15 shots per game.

I am kinda missing Drew Gooden right about now. Joe Smith has lost more than a step.

If we can get just one of our shooters hot it'll make the game closer. I think Boston is really playing illegal defense on Lebron if you ask me. How can four guys be around one man at one time? They've got athletes but I didn't know their bigs had Chris Paul speed. The whole series will change with a resounding win today. It can't be close or they'll believe it was a fluke. I wanna see Damon Jones play. He just has a calm swagger about himself and I believe with him on the floor, Boobie, and Wally with Lebron and Z would be a good line-up to off-set their traps. We'll see. I'm hoping for a huge victory. Go Cavs!!!

You can only hope that the Pistol Pete wannabe AV finds out what he should do before the series ?ends, this is going to be the toughest challenge the Cavs encountered, let's hope AV doesn't play like he is basketball challenged, some people thought Ben had lost his skills, but he was brought here for the playoffs, let's hope he bounces back quickly, and AV doesn't bounce the ball to much or at all, rebound, hustle, turn abck the clock, and be the AV of previous times.

I also miss Drew Gooden, and yes, the Cavs are doomed. This is San Antonio all over again. Celts will win it all this year, been saying it for months - mostly, because of their D.

I won't say we are doomed just yet.In fact I look for a really good performance tonight. But I never did like the Drew Gooden part of those deals, and wish he was still here.

celts will win it all?boy are you drinking the league offices' kool-aid.They've been glorifying the celtics since before the season even started.almost as putrid as 1981,when they scammed J and the sixers out of the conference title so Larry could be a hero for us white folks!Boston has NO CENTER and covers for this by having four players in the lane at all times on defense. The league rescinded Cassells'flagrant foul?I love Sam,but this is pure BS.Why didn't they suspend Garnett for his intentional elbows against Pachulia? Can we lighten up just a little on Andy?He has come through with some big shots in the past, maybe he'll do it again.I hope Daniel and Sasha get 30 shots between them. Also, the Cavs should be crushing the celtics on the boards.

Flagrant fouls may be changed, assessed or recinded after league review. Players can also be suspended upon league review. This happens all the time, just like it did in the last series with Songalia. Know the rules.

Are you missing the same Drew Gooden that missed the last dozen or so games of the season?

AV, just don't dribble or shoot please. Rebound and do the pick and roll thing with LeBron. Most importantly set the hustle example.

ESJ can't agree with you more,I don't know why he thinks he's a scorer???,his 360 spins makes me dizzy ,he better strap it up and bring it along with JS,they need these guys to play and not look like KG's personal staff stuffers,MB said he was going to watch 46 clips to get the O going, don't watch the same play on the Cavs,go to a team that really has an offensive game plan, for a man with 80 pairs of corrective lens wear,WHY?is is so obscured.

Duh dinner bell mel,go back to the C's game, against ATL,for someone who knows the rules so well?did you see KG fight with I forget his name and then push the the ref????and what was there view, rule states you NEVER push an NBA official under any circumstances,so what they looked at the tape and said that's alright he didn't mean it??? where's your educated opinion weigh in on this,it's OK sometimes, part of the time or all the time, you must see the game bias,or with rose colored glasses,so your point? it was OK to suspend Songolia, and NOT Haywood, great point!!!

Bron should just take it the "hoes" every time until all their bigs are in foul trouble. No more settling down at the 3 pt arc. You're a forward, get in the paint. Mix it up and grab rebound. Set the %#@!*&$% tone would you?

If your boys are standing around...smack them upside their stupid heads...this is do or die time.

Bron if you are still settling for jumpers then you are just a 23 cent pizza. You are the leader of the team so just head towards the base line then call for the alley oop and slam it home the 1st chance you get...see how the home croud will respond. It starts and end with you!

The strangest thing i've ever heard was MB after practice interview 5-9-08,when asked about LeBrons shot,HE SAID?well he's had a lot of wide open looks their really not doubling down hard?or with three guys?,he needs to be more aggesive with his shot?if that means infront of the arc,or behind the arc,he needs to shoot more aggressive even if that means to shoot 30?from three,WOW,is there a body double for Mike Brown from game to practice?he needs glasses alright, but maybe it's some deep plan?I sure hope so GO CAVS
