Draft may re-stoke Heat

Full story: South Florida Sun-Sentinel

If there's anything good to come out of this increasingly miserable Heat season, it's that it's probably headed for the draft lottery.

Cunningham continues to be the most anti-Gator writer I have ever seen. Newspaper reporters are supposed to be objective but it's killing the guy that Florida is the Champion. Nut up Cunningham because we will do it again next year. I would invite you to jump on the Gator bandwagon but we don't want you. Enjoy the offseason.

This story contradicts a little...Who cares abotu the system, the Gators ALSO had a decisive victory over Alabama. So what does Utah's win prove? Did they also beat Oklahom? Or Georgia?...Either way, the Gators are champs!

Gators beat Preseason #1 UGA, beat last years Nat'l Champ LSU, beat this season's #1 Alabama, and beat Oklahoma in the championship game - that is why they are the undisputed NATIONAL CHAMPIONS FOR 2008!

This quote sums up the anti-Gator bias held by Mr. Cunningham because of his dislike for Urban Meyer and Tim Tebow.

"For some this game doesn't mean the Gators are the best team in college football. They received 48 of 65 first-place votes in The Associated Press poll, reflecting a lack of consensus that will continue into the offseason."

And Barack Obama won because he "only" got 57% of the votes. I guess the "some" that think Utah or USC are better must include you, Cunningham, no? If it's not Miami, I guess everything about it is suspect, eh? I say this because you didn't call for a playoff system or suggest a remedy for the perception that the Gators aren't the best because the "best" teams didn't play. You just carped about it and end up sounding like a whiny Sarah Palin complaining of "liberal media bias".

Get over it, dude. If USC and Utah want to be respected they need to toughen their schedule and play more than one real team west of the Rockies every year. Playing somebody from the SWC just don't cut it. So until then, they really just need to shut up because they are ranked exactly where they are supposed to be.

What a typical article from a south florida homer! How can you watch that game Thursday night and have anything but positive things to say about both of those teams that played. There hasn't been a championship game played like that in MANY years, yet you want to complain and cry about the "system is broken". That game was a competitive, tough fought game and was not decided until the last 2 minutes of the game. How could you possibly script it any better? Did you think any of the other BCS games were better?
Listen, USC is a great defense with a decent offense. They played ANOTHER overmatched Big10 team. Their offense is average, the defense is great. Texas, they could BARELY get past the other overmatched Big10 team that showed it can't play in the big games the last couple years. Utah? Really? You honestly think that the Alabama team that took the field in the Sugar Bowl is the same team that played all year? Their players admitted that they didn't care about the game. Yes, Utah didn't lose a game, but what did they really play? Utah would never make it past the first round in a playoff. Tell me which of these teams you honestly think Utah would beat: Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, USC. If you're honest (and not trying to be sensational to sell newspapers) your answer is none.

One other point: Tell me which other team in FBS beat the #1 team in two consecutive games?

USC beat who? PSU & OSU? 2 second rate big10 schools.

Texas beat who? Oklahoma and OkSt? OkSt got embarassed by a Pac10 team! TTech got beat down by Ole Miss.

Utah beat who? Alabama & TCU? FL beat Alabama too. Utah barely beat TCU & Oklahoma creamed TCU.

Don't worry, da eWe "might" be relevant again one day and you can go back to writing articles about them. Until then, don't be such a homer.

Florida beat the AP & BCS # 1 ranked teams the last 2 games of the season when those positions are expected to be fairly solidified. What else do you want? It could have been Texas or USC or Utah. All the coaches and writers voted on it all year long. What if Utah would have played Florida & lost 42-3? Then the BS would all be how they didn't deserve to be there. Urban Meyer was at Utah and in the same position as well a few years ago. They don;t get respect due to strenght of schedule. That's life, get over it.

Absolutley right! Florida has put together one of the best teams in collegiate history. Some people are going to have sour grapes, that's a fact of life. Stupid people say stupid things, like Tebow would be the 4th best quarterback in the big 12. Come on, really, he should be the only player in FBS history to win 3 Heisman's and 3 BCS Championships. I GD guarantee you if the Heisman Committed could take back their mistake several weeks ago, they most certainly would. Sam Bradfords numbers were against weak teams, those numbers were grossly over inflated and it's now obvious. In the SEC, Oklahoma might have the 4th best offense. Overall, it was still an excellent game to watch. Tebow showed heart again and showed the Heisman Folks they were wrong.

Once again, another report about how people can't stand to see the Gators as National Champions.
Utah played in a weak conference, their best win coming against an Alabama team that was playing a consolation game after being less than 10 minutes away from being in the National Championship game.
Texas? One would expect that a participant for the National Championship game can at least win their conference. Case closed.
It would have been great to see a USC - FLA matchup. And if you suggest that USC defense would shut down FLA offense, the same can be said about FLA's defense shutting USC's offense. USC is nowhere near the offensive team OKL is. USC is gift wrapped a top 5 pre-season ranking. All they have to do each year is beat opponents in a weak conference. Somehow, each year they manage to lose against the likes of UCLA, Stanford, etc.
