interesting, that would include giving our draft choice or JJ or Hedo to make such a deal. Wouldnt be a bad starting lineup.
JN, CM, Lewis, Battie, and DH. If Otis could make that deal without giving up a starter. hmmmmmm

trade nelson and jj. look we know jj was a waste. and nelson is nothing but a backup pg. but we still persist on saying these guys are our "core" players. Lee is a combo guard id give him a chance at that and if you want maggette get him too with a trade though.

Maggette would be a good fit for the Magic. And would seem to make sense. However, do we really expect Otis to make that sort of deal? Can we trust Otis to make this sort of deal? The best we can hope for from Otis is a coherent sentence how he messed up another deal.

only way otis can make this deal minus a maggette opt out is a S&T in which the clips will def. want turk

I agree with you all, but then I look back at the PF spot as well, but I think we can work with Battie coming back as some major help we surely need at the PF spot, Dwight, Battie, then Gortat? I think Gortat deserves the more playing time and attentio than Redick.

I dont have a problem with Corey in the O though, if he chooses to sign here for less money, no problem!

Maggette is a nice player, but he's going to want more than a mid-level. Plus, while he can play shooting guard he's a natural small forward, and he's not known as a reliable perimeter defender. We already have a glut of small forwards. Lewis isn't going anywhere due to his salary (unless the Magic can swing a deal for Lamar Odom), and Turk is currently the Magic's best playmaker, helping making up for their deficiencies at the point guard position, and is vital to their offensive success.

The Magic need to focus on re-signing Dooling, or find another strong defender at the PG. Dooling's one of the best defenders at that position, and can also play some at the 2, so he'd be my first choice. Though you'd like him to shoot more consistently or be a better playmaker, he's still valuable.

I agree that Corey is not going to take a pay cut to play in Orlando. Just some more pipe dreams.
For those of you who want to trade Redick the problem with that is his value has been reduced to almost nothing because of the draft pick of the Magic. Bogans would work better as trade bait.
Now on to Dooling he wants a large pay increase and Otis has already said that if any teams offer him what he wants then the Magic are not going to keep him because it is too much money.
As of now their are 4 teams interested in Dooling, Dallas, Miami, NY and NJ. At least two of them are going to offer him what he wants supposely.
Evans also has several teams other then the Magic looking at him as well.
There is an excellent chance that the Magic will lose both of them.

wut the magic really need to do is trade arroyo and mo evans to miami for undois haslim which would assist the pf positon considering the fact that miami in hot persuit of boozer, secondly do a sign and trade for corey or see if corey would come for mid level exception if we could trade cash considerations a first round pick and brian cook or jj that would come out to the 8 million that would be coreys salary. thus the line up would be as followed

nelson
corey
rashard
udonis
howard

bench
dooling
bogans/lee
hedo
battie
grotat

if he is willing to come and opts out the clippers will be forced to do a sign and trade and would still be getting the cash from the mle to use on a free agent and have a first round pick with a long range shooter at the 4 or 2

They were contenders this year. And with Maggette, they'll be contenders again. Not champs. If D12 becomes the man, then maybe they will take it all, but I'm not convinced all the pieces are there. I'm not knocking D12, but the Magic need the guy to seal the deal when everything is on the line and with playoff experience. I think D12 could be the guy, but isn't there, yet. Who is available that will put the entire team on their shoulders to get them over the hump?

Not to stray too far from the Maggette news, but D12 will benefit from having inside help in so many ways. He will become a much better passer because he will be able to pass to a weakside forward when double teams come, rather than always have to outlet pass back to the perimeter. Remember how many of these easy baskets Perkins made for the Celtics due to Garnett's presence? Another big will also keep him from getting so frustrated taking himself out of games. However, he must do three things during the offseason 1) Develop a shot 2) Become a better dribbler and passer 3) Improve his foul shooting. Hopefully, his Olympic experience will allow him to accomplish these needs.

I agree that another presence inside would help out in many ways and who knows what Battie can or can't do now...I do think Gortat shows promise, but he needs a couple years.

Maggette is a long shot but he sure would go nicely with that PF we just drafted, oops.

I am not down on Lee, I just think we passed on a decent big which is always harder to come by than a SG.

Yes, landing Corey would take the Magic to another, higher level...watch Otis deep-six the idea.

As i've said before, if the Magic can get a SG of this caliber, we've got ourselves a championchip....

Not gonna happen, but nice to think about. It would have to be a sign-and-trade, but who are we actually willing to give up that LA would want?
Nobody....

I think Mickael Pietrus is a better fit for what the Magic need. He's an excellent defender at the 2 and 3 and a solid three-point shooter. He could be the Magic's Bruce Bowen/James Posey type of player. Another way to think of it is that he's a better version of Maurice Evans.

He'll probably be signed for the mid-level or less, so the Magic could sign him, if they're willing to spend the money.

BTW, every time Otis says the Magic won't overpay for guys, I don't necessarily disagree with that, but I wonder where that wisdom was last year with Rashard.

The best thing about Maggette is he has enough intelligence to have gone to Duke.
Other than that what makes the difference if he scores 20 a night or Hedo or Rashard score 20 each. Actually JJ can score 20 a night but he's not of the correct color to play in the NBA.
I like Maggette. He rhymes with Spaghetti...and I love pasta!

If the Magic keep the front office they have now a couple of more years they will be bankrupt, sold and moved to Tampa. I love Tampa!
Also, Maggette will make little difference in where the Magic end up in the East...still 4th or 5th no doubt.

If you can pull it off, Magic, fine, go ahead. Just make sure there's a translator there so that the other party knows what Otis Smith is saying. That is, if you can even find a translator around the Magic offices that can understand Otis.
