Riley likes veterans for a very good reason: when all the chips are in the pot and the game is a seriously important playoff-type of game - and the veteran players are well rested - they can put on a display of intensity and savvy that will usually win the game.

The trouble is, this group of veterans cannot combine that mix of intensity and savvy for any really extended time. When pressed into desperation, as they were with the loss of Wade, the veterans showed that they can do what is needed. And amazingly, they did it for thirteen of fourteen straight games, including a nine-game winning streak.

But now, they are tired again, having trouble rekindling the competitive fire necessary to sustain intense effort over the course of the remainder of the season.

It's sad, but true that this group simply cannot play continuously at a sustained high level such as that displayed by the Spurs' veterans, for example.

Dewayne the "Drama Queen" Wade can't change the tide for the heat, and neither can a coach who likes to steal other peoples glory i.e. Van Gundy. Bottom line the heat are nothing more than a bunch of rejects led by a crybaby who somehow thinks bruising a shoulder merits sitting in a wheelchair for three weeks. The only person worth seeing is the big Shaq Diesel. Look for some new champs coming out of Dallas this year.

You truly are pathetic fans, don't you realize that this team just gets plain bored with the regular season? Let's see how they do in the playoffs before we act like we really know what's going on. It's really tough to watch them play right now, but hello they just won a ton of games without DWADE. They are the same team. Everyone in this league slumps. So shut up and root for your team, and at the end of the season if they lose, you can be general managers and critics and whatever. crybabys

it figures we got a hank hill from texas saying these things. He is currently wiping the brown off his nose from singing david hasselhoff while tossing dirk "the choke artists" salad. Go post on your own newspapers wall!

And until someone else takes the title away-its sitting in the county of dade.

Why doesn't the coach say anything about Shaq's playing? When the guys work hard to get it to him, he misses the shot too much, then stands there and watches to see who will get the rebound. No wonder they start shooting the threes. I wish he was as good as he thinks he is, or was.
