Thinking about hoops

The comparisons between the Celtics and the Heat are flawed. The Celtics didn't acquire there superstars of this magnitude. They got one super star (Garnett) and two outstanding players. More importantly, these players complimented each other. Ray Allen is a spot on three point specialist, Paul Pierce is a versatile small forward and Kevin Garnett is a true power forward who is so strong, he gives true centers a hard time in the paint.

Miami's players are more dynamic. Wade and James are two of the most talented players to ever play the game. They have Jordan-esque abilities. Chris Bosh is a step down but he's very explosive.

The problem in Miami is that Bosh is a smallish power forward who doesn't dominate phsyically. He's good in the low post, but relies on finess. He likes to isolate a defender and blow by them.

James is a massive small forward but he doesn't use his size. He naturally settles into the point guard position. He likes to hold the ball, and make a drive for the basket with 5 to 7 seconds left on the shot clock. If the defense collapses, he'll dish the ball. If not, he takes it to the hole.

Wade plays a very similar game to LeBron. He drives the lane and uses his athletic ability to get to the rim. Both are very streaky long range shooters. LeBron can make circus shots with hands in his face on minute and then clank three wide open 3s off the back of the rim.

These three players will clash with each other. If LeBron is on fire, Wade will be a decoy. Bosh will probably get frustrated as Bron and Wade try to keep each other happy.

They'll win 50 games because they have so much talent, but when they get into the second round of the playoffs it's going to be tough to win. I think the Celtics are the best team inthe east if they stay healthy
