We also have to note that baby boomers cannot let go of the Jordan image. Baby boomers are so arrogant to take the position that Jordan will always be the greatest. Right now, Kobe is as established as Jordan!
As i recall, Jordan took a couple of years off to try to play baseball in between the run of championships. It seemed that they could win every year and might have won 8 or 9 straight before the team was dismantled. I think that is the reason why some consider him the best ever. The Bulls run was closer to what the Celtics used to be forty, fifty years or so ago..

Let's keep it simple, LeBron has more talent and athletic ability than Jordan because he is a better physical specimen and athlete. Jordan is an accomplished winner. The critics try to compare Jordan & Lebron because Jordan did his damage after his 7th year and this is Lebron's 7th year. The problem is Lebron came out of high school productive and Jordan came out after 3 years of NC coaching. Lebron is way ahead of Jordan's pace. It truly disgusts me that if the "overseers" aka management, puts the players together it is okay (Boston Celtics) but if the players do it, it becomes taboo. I am an all time Jordan fan and can be realistic and I am sick of Cleveland's whining! Get over it!
The game has changed since MJ laced them up, or Oscar, or Wilt, or Bill Russell. Lebron is good, but has not yet acheived greatness. That will be decided after his career is over. As of now he is not even in the top 5. Greatness comes with the will to win, and so far Magic, Bird, Jordan, Russel are way way ahead of "The King". Their will to win and compete is far greater than Lebron's. Oh and also they would have never went to join an opponent (Duwane Wade)to win. Could you imagine even Magic joining Bird or vice versa to win multiple titles, no they didn't have to they won them with their teams.

Additionally, I think pro basketball is closer to pro wrestling than true basketball. With all of the flopping and the favoritism of the calls by the refs, it really diminishes the game. For instance, watch the playoffs and watch how Miami will be allowed to defend Dirk, but watch how the Mavs won't even be allowed to get close to Lebron and Wade. And remember, it only takes a call or two to swing a close game, it's laughable. What a great game pro basketball could be if it were called evenly. And nobody was ever allowed close to Jordan either!!
Great point!! The NBA has the worst official's and games are not called the same way!!

Jordan is far superior to James - not even close - LeBron is a physical freak - if he was jordans size he would't be as good - and when he wins 6 titles with a collection of stiffs at center like jordan did - then he can enter the discussion as being better than MJ
Absolutely correct, Sir....Lebron is a fine player, but Micheal Jordan, is one of those incredible athletes, you are lucky to see, once in a lifetime....Scotty was a great teamate, but no Rhodes scholar.....

Trust me, I have been a coach for over 30 years, LJ is much better than MJ. The last two years of MJ's career when the refs stopped giving him preferred treatment his PER was just 20 per season. Titles does not mean you are good, there are two dozen Boston Celtic players who have more rings but it does not mean they are better. John Stockton and Karl Malone are fantastic players and never got a ring but they should of except for bad calls by the refs. MJ played with a lot of good players--BJ Armstrong, Pippen, Horace Grant, Bill Cartwright, Wennington, Rodman, Ron Harper, Steve Kerr et al,don't forget Charles Oakley.

I agreed with Pippen that LJ is better than MJ. LJ as you have seen can defend all five positions and play offense in all five positions, he is the package. He sees the court better than MJ, rebounds better, defends better and less selfish. Pippen is right and now Jeff Van Gindy is jumping on the Lebron bandwagon also.

Rings do not mean much, there are two dozen players who have more rings than MJ but I seen them both play with my own eyes. LJ is way better.

To put it simply, we can argue all day, the bottom line is we cannot compare players from different decades as far as "whose the best." The game changes, some rules are relaxed, while others are enforced a little more. This is the same in all sports. Why are these guys taking away from the finals? Have this argument after the season!
