are you kiddin`,obviously someone on the Pistons needed, could`ve and should have had a V8,(preferably not spiked). an organizational body needs a heart(Billups) and a large portion of it`s GUTS(McDyess) intact.

Ok so on Fox Sport they said that the trade was to project Cheikh Samb, who plays like Amir but is a true center.

Even if moving Billups is the right move for the team, is getting Iverson worth it? Sure he was an MVP, but that was a long time ago and he hasn't been a consistant MVP candidate since. He's not Kobe, he's not LaBron. He's 33 and has a history of sloppy play and poor work ethic.

I hope Joe knows what he's doing. And I hope this is not a temporary fill untill Stuckey is ready to start at the point.

What the F did I just read? You traded Billups for Iverson? Are you STONED Joe D.? Is Matt Millen running the Pistons now? My God you are NUTS. NUTS. INSANE. Defense wins Championships, at least at the Palace it always has. CRAZY. WOW. Chauncey WAS the heart and soul and the gut of the team. This is the end of the days near the top of the Eastern Conference.

This trade was made to free up the salary cap. Stuckey is legit so no need to pay Chauncey. McDyess is a great 6th man but weathered. Plus these gents are under the cap until 2010, 2011 respectively. Iverson has 1 year left on his contract and Detroit will not resign him, freeing up some money to go after a big time player. Mr. Dumars knows what he is doing

Hhhhhhhhhhmmmm lets see here,

AI is a shooting guard and that's the same position as the stolen Pistons star player and all time leading scorer Richard "Rip" Hamilton. And AI can't play the point because he is a ball hog. The stolen Pistons traded away a starting power forward and a point guard for a guard when they really needed a forward. And on top of all that AI is just bad karma that will bring the stolen Piston's or should I say Shitstons down just like Kwame "I'm high on Crack" Brown. And Bad Karma hhhhmmm lets see here that's about the last thing a new coach is going to need.

Hell I dunno what was a dumber move on little Joey Dumars part this trade or signing Kwamie Brown.

It's about time Detroit got someone that can actually score durring the playoffs. The last few years Billups has been cold and inconsistent and thats why they havn't won and gone to the finals!!!!!

Here comes 7 staight east finals and a championship!!!! If you don't think so then your nuts!!!!! What playoffs have you been watching for the past three years. I've watched the ones where the Pistons have walked off being defeated by a lesser team because of poor and inconsistent play with the inability to score by Billups. Sorry but 8 points a game just doesn't get it done for me or Mr.D.

Yes, Chauncey choked in the playoffs, but Iverson is a ball hog.

I think the real reason they picked up Iverson was so Sheed has a doobie brother...high time they enjoyed the game!

This is a big picture move. Joe D. told us at the end of last season that there would be changes and this is the beginning. Chauncy had great years as a Piston, but he had peaked, there is no where to go from here but down. Joe D. is not going to ride this team into the draft lottery like the Bad Boys were, he is going to retool and rebuild while staying competitive.

Iverson could work this year, but maybe not, if not, he will be gone at the end of the year. That's about 12 million in salary cap room. Rasheed's contract is also up this year, that gives us about 20 to 21 million in cap room. This gives us two years to allow Stuckey, Maxiel, and Johnson to gain experience with additional playing time while keeping Prince and Hamilton for veteran continuity.

So, this year we make a run with AI and Rasheed who will see this as possibly their last chance at a title and play more motivated. If this doesn't work, we still have a playoff quality team for next year that has a young and developing core. This leads us into the 2010 free agency market $21 million dollars under the salary cap when Lebron James is a free agent.

Disregard any rumors you have heard about Lebron going to New Jersey. That orgainization is in shambles, the ownership is shaky and the rumored move to Brooklyn that was being used as a draw to Lebron is now unlikely in a bad economy. The talent that will exist on the Nets in 2010 will be no where near what the Pistons will have at that time and will not be a step up for Lebron.

It could be argued that the lure of a major market like New York would be attractive to King James but neither franchise in that market will be ready to challenge for a NBA title. The only team that has a history of winning orgainization that will have a roster capable of surrounding James with the supporting cast that he needs to win a title and the salary cap room to pay him what he is worth will be the Detroit Pistons.

Do not under estimate Joe Dumars.

I think A.I is the player that he is because he has always played on crappy teams and had to be in order to put up points. But what do I know im a woman, oops dinners ready better get back into the kitchen. bye y'all

With one year to go on A.I.'s contract maybe Joe D. knows that A.I will only be short term and this was a way to unload a couple of contracts. I'm sure not a big A.I fan, I liked the Pistons "TEAM" the way it was even thought they came up short the last few years. I don't want a guy who will play good only when he's on a good team, I want a guy who will give all no matter where he's at. Practice? We talkin' bout practice? Yeah, you're good, how many rings you do you have?
