however if Tony Battie could have played it would have been different... That way Rashard could have manned up with Tayshaun Prince and then Turk could have posted Rip Hamilton up and there would have been a better mismatch even if Chauncey Billups wouldn't have gotten hurt..

PG: Nelson just signed an extension for 50m
SG: Lewis is ours for 7 years at 118M
SF: Turk should be offered an extension this offfseason
PF:?????
C: Dwight signed a 5 year extension last year.
We will have to fill one spot with an MLE... or maybe we could land Okafor with a trade... our 22nd pick, JJ Redick, and our MLE cash???
50 million... it was actually 35 million... I think Magic fans would have rioted if it were that much..

The Magic are toast baby! Here's what will happen in the off-season. Like fools they will keep SVG, but he will get fired during the season. Guaranteed! Nelson has to go, but no team will show interest unless it's a bundle-type deal! Dwight Howard will become frustrated and demand to be traded mid-season. Lewis will probably end up in the West Coast somewhere! And they won't make the playoffs next year at all. Guaranteed.
SVG is the best thing to happen to the team since Dwight Howard... As far as trades over the summer Otis is too conservative to pull the trigger on his main core unless theres one of those too good to pass up trades such as the one a couple years ago that sent Steve Francis out of town finally...

Lewis' deal @$118m is staggering. He has game, but not max contract-type game; Nelson will get abused on defense against bigger guards. He has some skills, but you can't coach size. Turk doesn't play a 6' 10" game. He's a 6th man that could fetch some value in a trade. Jump shooters are like WRs in football - plenty of them available. Howard has developed, and will continue to do so. Just get him some help. This Pistons team had to get thru 2 Nets' teams before breaking through.

hold on so let me get this straight:
youre giving nelson 10 million a year? why? so he can guarantee you out of the second round agai next year? d howard is gonna want more money than shard, so thats 35 mil in two players, plus another 20-23 mil in the other two starters. and i know jordan got duped by larry brown, but okafor for mle cash, a 22, and redick?? redick aint worth a bag of spaldings, he shoulda never left duke even if this would have been his seventh year, van wilder did it. you are what you are, a good team too capped out to be a great one, you might get a good player at the mid level, but youre scouting i=snt gonna find anyone who can help, the only reason you didnt bomb with howard, is cuz you had the first pick, duh. what other magic draftees contribute? nelson, gortat, ill give you half credit for bogans for gettin him back, basically a big ass pile of dookie. so you cant draft and you cant spend anymore money cuz you have a soft pf whos gonna be a sg. all this for the long awaited return of the dominant tony battie. batman strikes. nice try uf alum, but lets be real, you went to florida, you couldnt even beat a michigan with a heisman qb, and fyi the last time you played michigan state, you got bitched by plaxico burress in the same stadium, with the same sorry ass d. this summer try harder to sign billy donovan, might work for ya, peace.

The Magic's payroll is #27 in the 30 team NBA at $58,819,313. Compare that to the Knicks at $88,877,161. How is payroll an obstacle for the Magic?

Really? The difference in fouls tonight was 3, in favor of Detroit. If Howard mad half of the frees he missed, you would have won this game.
It's not the fouls, it's what you do with them.
Hats off to the Magic, it was a huge improvement over last season, and you are the clear leaders in your division, no doubt. You should have one of the top three spots in the playoffs for a few years now, that will certainly help in consistantly making the second round, and the next step is right there.
I agree though, you need a new GM, because the one you have signed some STOOOPID contracts. Payroll is one of your biggest obsticles right now. You got great experience this playoff season, every team has to go through it's bumps before reaching the peak. Magic are definately on the way up.

This was a good year, but with the players we have, the 2nd round will be as far as we go. We need a true power forward, lewis is a small forward and so is turk. We have a great shooting guard sitting on the bench because he can't play defense, lol.Reddick! I love nelson to death lil man with big heart, but we need a true point guard to create. U all seen what happen when pistons did not double team dwight, no open 3 pointers, when someone drove and kicked it thats when we hit the 3's. If we can get a solid power forward maybe a veteran to help toughness, that would help and leadership that would help. I know many will not agree, but look at the roster and what we need is pretty clear. Go Magic!!!!

I really do think we'll get better next year.. For PF spot, Battie will come back.. also, a Corey Maggette signing would be great. I read in a column that Corey would welcome a second stint with the Magic. So you'll probably see a Howard, Battie, Lewis, Turk/Maggette and Nelson.. Battie, Howard and Maggette alone will provide toughness that can match that of Detroit in the play-offs.. additionally, when you slide Lewis to the 3-spot it would take him back to his original position and be more competitive.

As for Hedo-- I love the guy but if we can get a solid big man for him while his value is way up and we get Maggette then I'd pull the trigger on a trade.. but only if we get Maggette or a similar caliber wing man and in return we get a good big.. perhaps a trade with the Clippers of Turk/Reddick/Foyle for Maggette and Kaman.. that would be awesome... should be enough to get us to the finals next year!!

It was a great year and the future is just OK. The Lewis contract will turn into the Grant Hill anchor that dragged this team down for years. Lewis is just not that great.I can not believe they did that a second time. For some reason Otis must think he already has a team for the next decade of championships. There is now no money to improve the team. Better hope the draft finds a sleeper for them.

The Magic need to keep a core together. Likely Howard, Turk, Rashard and Jameer. Jameer would be expendable if not for his contract but he is a player and has shown he can contribute. Through draft, trade, free agency, another quality big man and a bigger defensive minded guard and a team will emerge ready to seriously compete. Also, I notice some Magic fans mirroring the inane ramblings of Van Gundy. Van Gundy is a good coach and should be around long enough to set the foundation, but someone who whines that much and doesn't accept responsibility won't get the team over the hump. No-The Magic are not a better team than The Pistons, and no The Pistons are not dirty. One would think that losing the series 4-1 including a home loss and two losses without Chauncey, may be an indication of where the team is right now.
