UTEP is currently still on the fence to make the big dance and still a lock for the NIT. A win against Tulsa will break them into at large conversation to the big dance. Possibly a 12th seed after beating Tulsa, SMU and East Caroline. You must remember, that Memphis is getting hot as well after beating UAB and having a shot to beat Gonzaga today, this will most likely land the into an at large birth conversation. Tulsa, is currently projected to be in the tournament as a 12ht seed, but a lose to UTEP, might just burst there bubble, which means they are going to have to end up winning most of there games remaining for an at large birth.

Currently: UAB - rpi of 29, projected 25-5 (13-3),*8-9 seed*
UTEP - rpi of 71, 1-3 against top 50
Tulsa - rpi of 55, 1-1 against top 50
Memphis- rpi of 68, 1-3 against top 50

Projected: UTEP 23-6 (14-2)"loss at Tulsa", loss in semifinals --> 25-7 *11th seed*
Tulsa 23-7 (13-3) "losses at UTEP, Duke and Memphis", loss in semifinals --> 24-8 *12th seed-NIT 1st seed*
Memphis 23-8 (12-4)"losses at Tulsa and UAB", win conference tournament --> 25-8 *10th-11th seed*

The bracketology you are speaking of was created 2 weeks ago and prior to the losses by UAB & Tulsa. ESPN lists UTEP at the 13th seed already. To be honest it's all preliminary. One thing you are dead on about is that a UTEP vistory will wipe out Tulsa out of any consideration. We all know that will happen later today.

I saw a clip on KVIA-7 that the Don had 756 seats yesterday morning and by the end of the night for their news at 10 PM the Don was "Sold Out". Great support El Paso! This should make for an excellent game and victory for the UTEP team.

UTEP is the hottest team in Conference USA at the moment. I wish them the best of luck this afternoon.

Winning one game against UAB doesn not make a team "hot". This is a team that lost to SMU just last week. I'll take Gonzaga though it would help UTEPs RPI if I am wrong.

I just saw the bracketology at ESPN.com , it does put UTEP in as a 13th seed, but its only in the field right now because Lunardi is assuming UTEP winning the conference tournament and having UAB as the only at large bid in Conferance USA. This could certainly happen, but I'll stick with my projections...and hopefully get three teams in including UTEP. As far as Memphis winning against Gonzaga, would be great; would help our SOS and conference RPI (meaning it would maybe rise UTEP's rpi two or three spots).

I meant to say Tulsa could end up as a 11th seed and not 1st seed.
