A very bias opinion. Should add more evidence in the game to prove NOwitzki's lack of leadership.

hi jean i think although nowitzki could have played better in this series
you are being incredibly harsh
i dont think anything could have stopped davis,(not the pistons either)
it will be interesting to see if he keeps the steam going for round two after this result then tell the world your oppinion of the mavs.

a bit lopsided, your story. diappointment makes radical, i can understand that, but you will find a series like that for most players that ever played the game and were considered masters of their game. i wouldn't put nowitzki as MVP, just for the reason you gave, because playoffs are also part of the season and an MVP should at least perform at his best, even if not winning. neither am i a special friend of nowitzki, yet let's face it, he's a great player and getting nowitzki to dallas was the best thing that ever happened to the club.

They will give Dirk the MVP title for the regular season. No more no less. You just can not mix his performance he gave in this playoff series with what he did in the 82 regular games. In my opinion the nba should announce the MVP before the playoffs starts, so nobody would complain. Beside that, Dirk has leader qualities. Remember last year's series against the Spurs or all the great efforts for the german national team.

I'm no dallas fan by any strech of the imagination, but this idiot is so dead wrong. He forgot the first rule and second rule of organized sports. First is that it is a team sport and no one player can win or lose a game without the support or lack of it because of one player, period. Second is that when the player is having an off night you stop trying to force the situation and give the torch to another player. Hence the term "TEAM SPORT". The writer of the article has chosen the wrong field of so called expertise to write about, a seven year old involved in team sports can see what is happening here!

The Warriors had the Mavs number all season. It could be that Nellie knows their weaknesses better than Avery Johnson does, but that's the breaks. Nowitski is a great player and if they trade him (which they won't) they would be foolish. This column is just a slam on Nowitski but it ought to be a one complimenting the Warriors who played great. I'll be watching to see how they do against the Jazz or the Rockets. I hope they do well. Dallas will be back next year stronger than ever.

This may be the dumbest thing i have ever read. trade the leagues best player for who and for what? How will that improve the team? Upsets happen, good teams lose games but great ones learn from failures and come back stronger. Wait and see what happens next year. One bad series by the team should not equate to blowing the whole team up.

Although I definetely believe that Dirk chokes when it REALLY matters ( I.E. last years finals ), trading him would be insane. He's just not that LeBron, I'll take it to the hole 50 times if I have to, type of player. He's not comfortable with a team on his back. In light of this fact, Dallas needs another dominant big man. Dirk and Josh Howard are two awesome players but with Dirk lacking on the defensive end and choking during pivitol games, the MaVS need to bring in another man that help with the interior D and score inside. Bottom line is Dirk is not the player some of us thought that he would be during the most important time of the NBA season to step up..

He shot 2 for 13 in a decisive game. What other evidence is needed ? Thats a clear indication that he wasn't agressive enough. I can accept him going 2 for 24 because at least that indicates that he put it all on the line. But he didn't. He deserves the MVP for the regular season. Nonetheless, he's just not a Tim Duncan, LeBron type of player that has the self assurance to step it up a notch when your stars best playing is most demanded.....the irony is that is that WE all had to acknowledge that Dirk wasn't a championship caliber play-off performer when he taken so terribly during last years Finals......So guys just don't have that extra effort......

This columnist is an idiot!!!!

Did the indianapolis colts give up on Peyton Manning when he couldn't win big games? Dirk will learn from this!

Great write up. I haven't read any gutsier column that calls a spade a spade. All the other writers built up Nowitzki throughout the year and now are trying to save face by writing about how Nowitzki's still a great player. But a great player does not wilt like Nowitzki has wilted in so many important games. If a team wants a player who can play the mid-level groove, then Nowitzki's the man. But if a team wants a player who can step it up when it matters, then they have to look for players with more fortitude.
