Something else to think about regarding the Pestons. Think about it. The Magic make all of these mistakes..turnovers, missed rebounds for example...and yet they still only lose by close margins most of the time.
It just goes to show that if the Magic correct these mistakes they can not only beat the Pestons ,but truth be told, they can actually crush them like a paper cup.
Thats what makes it so frustating. We are a better team, and we probably were last season too, we just cant seem to close the deal at the end of the game like we do with most teams.

Its become mental now, thats why I dont want to see them in the 1st round. I think we have a good chance against anyone else, its just all those negative memories are still haunting the players I think.

I agree about it being mostly mental right now with the Magic. With any other team the Magic usually have nerves of steel at all times..even in the 4th quarter. They wouldn't be such a good road team if this wasn't the case.

It just seems like when they face Detroit they do so with the weight of the world on their shoulders.

They just need to block everything out and go out there as if they are any other opponent.

They need to play to win like they do against all the other teams. When they play Detroit they play trying not to lose.

They need to get completely out of the time warp. It is as if the last part of the "old Magic"...remember the old Magic who used to choke against any opponent when the pressure was on ?....is still caught in the past when they play these guys.

wow calm down...im just going based on the magic history
What history?? Dwight entered the playoffs two years ago and we went 1 round. The second year we went two rounds. That is called improvement. To be a team only built for the regular season means you lose to teams in the playoffs you arent suppose to. The Magic have lost to teams that had better records and higher seedings. That is not a team built just for the regular season. If you are going to make an accusation make it an accurate one. If the Magic as a #3 team lose this year and next year in the first round, you can accuse them of being a team built just for the regular season. But right now that is not an accurate statement at all. We are a young team with some proven playoff experience and we are heading for bigger and better things. It is only a matter of time before Orlando hands Detroit its head on a platter. Then watch out.

the magic are pretenders...they are a solid team in the reg season, but when it comes to the playoffs they will fall short like howard at the free throw line

I absolutely agree. I don't think they are seen as an "Elite" team just yet, but still, 3rd place in the east is nothing to sneeze at. In years past it was always a case of "just one or two more pieces" but I honestly think that we could be there right now. Another lock-down defender couldn't hurt but with the talent and coaching staff that we have on board right now I don't see why we couldn't reach the mountaintop with just a few tweaks to our play and perhaps just a little bit more experience and confidence.

Solid post. I agree although I thought Petrius and/or Lee would be our lock down defenders. I'm still hoping that they will grow into that role.

I still think this Magic team will have a pleasant surprise for us in the playoffs this year. Somebody is going to be disappointed this year at the hands of the Orlando Magic.

So what, that means nothing. Orlando got to the Finals in only their 5th year of existence. It means nothing to go unless you win it.
