Riley gets something for nearly nothing

Full story: South Florida Sun-Sentinel

It was a good trade but the story wasn't written well. You will lose any reader of the microwave generation who needs to get the gist in the first three paragraphs.

Walker gave up on the NBA after he won his ring. He showed up 265 and that proves he dosent care. Riley yet again cast his magic and got a legit big man and a fine SF. I thought Riley could do no better than his deal of Bimbo Coles for Tim Haraway, but this may be as good.

Ethan,

This was a good trade for both teams.

McHale is putting together a nice team. He didn't trade Garnett for "spare beans". They got 2 first round draft picks! Plus, they got a bunch of players young players who were first round picks.

In this trade, he will get a motivated Antoine Walker. Walker always seems to be motivated in a new situation.(see his numbers in Boston, Atlanta and Dallas). That's in addition to the expiring contract stuff you pointed out.

Ricky Davis is a badass. He was when he was with the Heat. They got rid of him in Cleveland because he was intimidating Lebron. I actually think that was a big mistake on Cleveland's part. He's a talented player who hates playing on crappy teams. That's why he had problems in Minnesota. That's why he'll fit in here.

This gives the Heat a potentially great defensive lineup in Wright, Davis, Haslem, Mourning and Richardson( assuming he makes the team).

By the way, the Heat should also keep Brian Chase around to guard the quick, little guys in the East (Eddie House, Fred Jones, Nate Robinson, Deshaun Stevenson, Keyon Dooling, Ben Gordon, Chris Duhon. These little guys can give the Heat huge defensive problems)

It's not about 'the third scorer'. It's about a guy who can play great defense and put pressure on the other team on the offensive end.

Walker Sucks and the Heat still suck!
They're rearranging pieces but it's still the same sorryass puzzle.
0-7 in preseason? Come on you can't win one stinkin game no matter who's in there.
Heatfan in Cali, your dreamin. If Ricky Davis hates crappy teams he's not going to be happy with the Heat.
Like i said all along they need to unload Shaq and his 20 million dollar lazyfatass.

This should turn out well. Riley picked up almost exactly what was needed. Davis may mesh better with Wade when he returns than you think. His Latrell Sprewell type game will add some balance and help divert all the defensive attention on just stopping Wade & Shaq.
Also, this will give Dorell more time to develop and find his role and his offensive game. He's got a ton of upside which will continue to reveal itself throughout this season.

Is that last part true about Ricky Davis shooting at his OWN basket in order to record a triple double???

I think if my player did that I would suspend him even if we were up by 30 points.

Nice trade - they got younger, and more athletisicm on the team, just what the Heat needed. Plus we needed someone like Davis to step in while Wade comes back from his injury.

Wade will not be 100% two weeks into the season. It will still take him a couple of months to get into game shape and get his outside shot down.

Everyone keeps talking about the Celtics "big 3" but last I checked, don't the Nets have a "big 3" in Carter, Kidd, and Jefferson? How far has that gotten them in the last couple of years?
The Celts have no depth behind Pierce, Garnett, and Allen.

Detroit and Chicago are still the top 2 teams in the east with the Heat and Celtics right there behind them.

However, I'll take a healthy Wade and Shaq against anyone in the NBA.

Bad trade. Just like the Fins, the Heat need to rebuild through the draft. Including a first round pick was incredibly stupid.

It'll be interesting to see how these two somewhat questionable character guys mesh with the Heat. Can't imagine any scenario where either Davis or Blount could create a cancer with Riley, Shaq, and Zo around to police the grounds.

I like the deal all the way around.

For the hater, Shaq is the reason for the championship, it's not coincidence that he's won everywhere he's gone (Orlando-close to a title, LA-3 of them, and of course Miami-1 and counting. He makes everyone around him better.

Mr. Milk-Dude head is gone. Never saw a shot,(or a snack), that he didn't like. Ricky gives us another penatrator which is always a plus. People, people... listen to his numbers. Ricky is close to a 40% 3 point shooter last year. That was without a Shaq. Everyone knows his looks and %'s increase with Shaq. So whattaya gonna do? Come out and pressure him, He'll drive past them and put down a monster dunk? If he gets fouled? 89% from the charity line smells like.......... Victory!!!

well everybody has their own opinion one thing u can't do is pleasing everyone,so in my opinion i think Ricky is a better fit for the heat team Walker used to be a good player now he is a joke .first of all,he is less productive ,his inside game disappear,he set up for a lot of 3s that don't fall in,he is to sloppy in his game,he doesn't have the quickness bcause he's too heavy.Ricky can b motivated he can b bad but what we need the most from him is what he can bring to the table, athletism, quickness.offe nsive threat,3pointers,aggressivenes s...michael is good too but too soft like LucLongley.Wayne cant say anything he hardly prove himself on the court of what he is capable of doing.lets see in the future.
