As expected, the draft does nothing to improve the team other than give them some fodder for the summer league. The heat is just not interested young players or capable of tutoring them into becoming nba players. They should just admit it and sell their draft picks every year. The heat mindset is like those old bluehairs in the "adult only" condos with distain and no patience for youth. Sure, they get lucky one every couple of decades ie D Wade, but in Riley's world, its a senior's league. I feel bad for D Wade, whose must suffer through two more years of hapless play before he bails to a more modern thinking organization.
You are so right, Wade deserves more. Wish he had gone to Orlando with Van Gundy.

All you people crying need to STFU and pick another team to support. this isnt the dolphins. the heat are very well run, RILEY WON US A CHAMPIONSHIP, now shut your know NOTHING mouths all together now.. you have NO CLUE how good any of these guys will turn out, and Cook has lots of potential.. Smith? How many big tall white guys do you see get drafted? Now how many of them make it? 3%, tops? You were probably made when we took that Wade guy over Chris Kaman too
You fake heat fans make me sick. PLEASE, pick another team.
You need to shut your pie hole. Let the people who ultimately pay for the Heat via tickets, television viewing, and merchandise voice their opinion. You sound like the chumps who hyperventilate when the Dolphins get criticized.

Winning a championship doesn't give a team a carte blanche for life. Riley and Pfund didn't revitalize the team two years ago. Consequently, we watched a bunch of retreads who couldn't put the ball in the ocean try to help Dwayne.

Clean house.

Heat !!!! you needed a point Guard. there was Rice and Almond right there.
then you skip Green and trade the 2nd rd pick away. What ???? not a good draft.

Why trade a potential starter for a back-up? Big men are hard to come by. I may not know much but I felt this draft was important. I feel like they blew it. This was a great chance at getting younger and athletic.
We all know whiteboys can't play center. He would've ended up just like Doleac. Get rid of him!

Cook will help the Heat bottom line. Once he gets an opportunity to be on the court, you watch and see how much easier life will be for Shaq and D-Wade. This is the best 21st pick the Heat ever have. Good job Pooh. Keep proving these HATERS wrong. Do your thang boy! Ask Thad Matta where are Ron Lewis and Jamar Butler at now? Those are the two bums you played in front of him. Lets see him win now. He wouldnt have won last year with Oden hurt unless Cook did what he did by averaging nearly 18 points and 6 rebounds with little playing time. Good decision man.

Amazing. The Heat botch another draft, adding nothing to a roster glaringly full of holes. Neither of these players will stick. What was it about Cook's two points in the championship game against Florida that Riley found so impressive? Pat Riley and co. just took the heat off the Dolphins and made Cameron and his draft look like geniuses. Dorell Wright and Wayne Simien, the Heat's last two first round picks, even look brilliant by comparison, and they live on the bench. Well, so much for keeping up with the Bulls. Or the Knicks, the Raptors, etc.
Yeah and how much playing time did he get in that game? You have to be on the court to actually put the ball in the basket. It was a coaches decision not to have him in the game. You cant fault the kid. How many other players do you know that could have still maintained his averages with the bs playing time he was given. Play 3 min sit, play 2 min sit. He never really gave this kid a chance to get in any kind of flow of the games. He chose to play upper-classmen ahead of him. Thats fine now you dont have Cook, Oden, or Conley. Now lets see him win. And for your comment- I know when Cook starts to shine for the Heat- you will be riding his sack like a lil beatrice!

Im shocked by the heat's trade. they had a solid player in jason smith and they got a player who is in-consistent i like the 2009 picks but the issue of inconsistent players needs to be addressed the whole team is inconsistent except for one man. I like posey and kapono they need to stay but my point is... this team won a championship when they clearly still had many improvements to be made; The following year no changes made and thats why they got swept plus d-wades injury. they need better shooters and people who can make plays off the dribble, i mean its no wonder they were the 3rd lowest scoring team they give the ball to wade and expect him to save thier you know whats everytime we need a team not two superstars and some washed up scrubs like walker. Id love to see ZO come back he's the man but I thought this team was no where near complete in 2006 and IT STILL NEEDS IMPROVEMENT MR. RILEY whats to lose completely remodeling this time like in the recent past As long as wade and shaQ arent injured we'll make playoffs and trust me we're not beating san antonio with this team right now. If the want to see a finals in saqs time theyd better put some people that actually contribute to the nucleus rather than making an open look once a year. Thanks for your time.

Why does the heat need a point guard? What's wrong with Jay-Will? He was injured all year just like everyone else. No one is saying we need another shooting guard because wade was injured, or another center since shaq was injured, or another player to fill in for Jason Kapono who was also injured. We need a forward that can handle the ball and create his own shot. That was supposed to be Antoine Walker but he had a disaster of a season. Wade can play point if he has one more option to bring the ball up, since all the heat do anyway is pass the ball to Wade and get out of the way. The heat made it's biggest screw up a handful of drafts ago when they passed over the Jameeracle. Jameer Nelson is the point guard everyone is crying for and he's right upstate.

Keep in mind we had Rafer Alson and let him go. We had Mike James and let him go too. We have had point guards, we just let them go and not drafted any. Shaq asked for Jay-Will and here he is, and he's fine if not injured. We don't keep them because we don't need them. We could have Steve Nash on the heat and we still wouldn't win because everyone knows the gameplan. Give it to Wade. Wade is going to dribble for a while and then fling himself into the paint and try to get a whistle. Rinse and Repeat.
