Who Has a Better Starting 5, Los Angeles Lakers or Miami Heat?

Jul 7, 2012 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: BleacherReport

It's the question that will be endlessly debated for the rest of the 2012 NBA offseason: Do the Los Angeles Lakers have a better starting five than the defending champion Miami Heat? The 2012 NBA free-agency period has been an arms race.

Laker by far have the better players but with Kobe it is hard to play as a team, Mr. Hog. Lebron is obviously better than MWP, but that is it--Kobe is better than Wade, Nash is better than Chalmers, Pau is better than Bosh, Bynum is better than Haslem and another big name is coming to L.A. soon forget it the Lakers are the better team. They just need to play better as a unit in defense and offense. The L:akers also have some young blood on the bench that can spelled the veterans a bit.

Yeah but that is not matching up by position. You would never see a Wade vs Gasol match up. Nice try though.

Yup, you got it right. When you factor in Battier, Miller(if he doesn't retire), Ray Allen, Cole compared to Steve Blake, Ebanks, McRoberts, and Goudlock, the heat have a way better and deeper bench

With Nash the Lakers have the best starting five of anyone. No one is bewtter than the five of Kobe, Bynum, Pau, Nash and Meta and you may have Lamar back and several young promising players at hand. All the Lakers need is a strong sound and experienced coaching staff.

Pau, Bynum, Kobe and Meta all showed a lot of frustration, uncertainty, misconnection and miscommunication on the court last year.

Hmmm, wonder what could've caused that?

Phil Jackson retiring, Kobe's divorce, Kobe's knee surgery, the NBA lockout, a shortened compacted unpredictable season, a totally new coaching staff, the CP3 trade that ripped the Lakers apart, 6th man of the year Odom leaving, Pau Gasol fearing for his job in L.A., Fisher who was the closest thing to a PG the Lakers had since Van Exel traded for a piss poor Sessions(lol)and I'm sure there are several more things to mention too!

The Lakers definitely overachieved last season despite all of that tremendous adversity. Hats off to coach Mike Brown and his staff and his General Kobe Bryant for keeping it together and making some decent tasting lemonade out of all those lemons they were handed from jump. Most teams Ginobili, would've crumbled and took steps back and maybe took a year or two to recover if they had to endure maybe even half of what Kobe and the Lakers endured this past season.

When I go to Vacaville, I go to a place called Nut Tree, great food and desserts. Your Lakers have a really talented team this coming year and have a great pg in Nash and Lamar Odom may be coming back.
I have them favored to win it all next Year. Kobe is one of the best shooting guard in the history of the NBA, Pau is a solid player, Bynum one of the top two cneters in the league, Nash top five pg in the history of the NBA, Meta is physical and a great defender and Lamar will help if he comes back and the bench with a year of experience will be or should be better. The Heat and the Thunder still need pgs and real centers. The only reason why Miami won last year was mainly Lebron, he played all five positions at times in the playoffs ,he was everywhere where he was needed. Hew is the best that has ever played, ask Oscar Robertson, he says that Lebron is in a class by himself recently, I said it back in 2007.

The Nut Tree is a cool little center to spend some time on a weekend. It has a handful of good stores to shop at and some good places to grab a bite. The locals here are upset with the Nut Tree compared to when it thrived 20 years ago. The mayor promised some Fancy High dollar restaurants and a giant convention center/ hotel when it was being re opened. Non of it came to be though.

I like the Mexican restaurant and the Fenton's Ice Cream place over there at Nut Tree. Talking about 25% Chinese , I will be in China from Jan to early March 2013, observing the construction of the worlds tallest bldg 220 stories in the city of Changsha. This bldg is being built by BSB and it is 99% pre-fab and supposed to be built in 90 days only. The Chinese are just amazing not only in sports but in science and technology. They are favored by most experts in the London Olympics to win the most Gold and most most total medals. Talking about that bldg, it can house 150,000 people like a med size city.

The Lakers on paper are stronger but I will take the Heat. Riley, Spoelstra and coaching staff is superior than LA. Last year at times Bynum, Pau,
Meta and Sessions looked very lost and confused because they were not sure what to do or look for.
