We're still trying to feed this lie about Hinrich being a defensive stopper to everyone. Hinrich plays extremely hard but he's not at all close to being a great defensive player. List five games in which Hinrich has shut down anyone in this league. Trade him ASAP. Hughes plays the best defense on this roster.

Plllllleeeeeaaaaassssseeee!

No comparisons to MJ now. How could any Bulls fan insult Michael in such a manner. And that's not taking anything away from Derrick. But when he leads the league in scoring while winning the Defensive Player of the Year and has 6 rings and however many League and Play-off MVP's Michael won, then start that comparison nonsense.

Thank goodness Derrick himself seems to have enough sense to stop it, and we can only hope he continues to, because if his head gets that big, he'll fall flat on his face.

I expect nonsense like this from fans, but not what are suppose to me intelligent sportswriters.

ProfessorGAC, did you see Larry Hughes lock down Granger? Without fouling no less. As I have been saying from the beginning, if Hughes returns to his pre-Cleveland form, not only will he be the best perimeter defender, he will probably be your best scorer. Hinrich is absolutely expendable.

I agree with CalChiFan, Larry Hughes got it done defensively. He looked like what Thabo was supposed to be, except Larry can actually penetrate, shoot, and score. I know he's had a poor shooting FG%, but I like his attitude with the chip on his shoulder as he was considered the odd man out with the so called "emergence" of Thabo, which did not take place despite his early season starts. To me the biggest difference is, Thabo can not handle the ball, and Larry can. I'm really not sure if Sefelosha will be able to overcome his fears on the basketball court because of his vulnerability handling the ball. Derrick, Gordon, and Hughes doesn't look like a bad backcourt for the Bulls right now. Too bad Noah and Thomas have no offensive game as we are dieing for offfensive Bigs who can score, and Paxson didn't deliver. Spencer Hawes or Thaddeus Young would be loooking pretty good right now. None the less, let's go Bulls. Maybe Tyrus and Joakim can become little Rodman one and two.
CentrILMark, always appreciate your posts. My belief with Thabo is that he lost his confidence under Skiles. And, he is not a good shooter. Very few Europeans make it in the league if they can't shoot. Nor do I believe he has a good offseason work ethic (see also Tyrus Thomas and Noah). That said, the Bulls don't exploit advantages they could have with Thabo e.g. posting him against smaller guards like Jameer Nelson or Chris Paul. I think Thabo's gone along with Hinrich. On Hughes, I believe many are going to be surprised if he returns to his pre-Cleveland form. He is already their best defender (without fouling e.g. Hinrich) and he rebounds. Once his shot comes back, he'll be their best all-around scorer. Looking forward to his defense against Kobe and Brandon Roy when the Bulls come west this week.

I love the knucklehead comment. Because at times they play like they all are knuckleheads. Especially when they are behind late in the game. Gordon decides to try to take over the game rather than run the offense and throws up bricks.

Trade Hinrich? In case you haven't noticed there are only two players on this team who can play the point, and Hinrich is one of them. Unless you weant to wear out Rose forever in his first year we need to get Kirk back ASAP. The glut is at shooting guard where you have Thabo, Gordon and Hughes. One of the three needs to go, and to get anything in return it probably has to be Gordon.
As a transplanted Chicagoan living in Memphis, I got the chance to see a lot of Rose last year. I knew he was the real deal, and the right choice, but even I thought it would be after the halfway point before he could have this type of impact.
Stratmaster, for a backup point guard, they picked up Lindsay Hunter. Who will be a better mentor for Rose than Hinrich anyway and comes without an inexpensive price tag. Hinrich is expendable.

Hunter is what, 39 years old? And we are a fast break taem. I agree with the mentor angle, but I don't see Hunter getting much playing time. Maybe there is something I don't know though and he still has the legs of...what... a 35 year old?:)

25 of 27 free throws and once again a great respect for possessions (only11 tirnovers). A major turnaround from the last several years, consequently a much better start in terms of wins and losses. Congratulations on the obvious change in attitude.

Who say's we need Kirk because he is the only point guard besides Rose. I've watched a zillion Bulls games and they always have several players bringing the ball down court: Gordon, Thabo, Hughes, Tyrus, Nicioni, Goodwin. The Bulls are normally rushing down the court and Rose is not always carrying the "rock". Trade Kirk. Get a real center.

Gordon is a turnover machine when he handles the ball. Thabo can usually get it down the court but then has no idea what to do with it. I am assuming you are joking about the other 4 names you list.

If you paid attention last year you noticed the offense ran best when Duhon was in the game. I am not lobbying for or against Hinrich (I said last year that Duhon should have played the most minutes at PG because he was the only real one we had), just stating that you have to have a 2nd guy on the team who can give you 15 minutes and reasonably resemble a PG. Why do you think Rose, and any other decent PG in the league is considered so valuable?

When will Paxson see what we do. They need a real center.

Hinrich will be expendable once we can get a full time backup PG. Hughes can play some point, but he's at his best at the 2 guard spot so that's where he should be full time. Thabo's defense is nice, but if they need anything else out of him he's not much use. If Pax can find a way to package Hinrich, Thabo, and one other player not named Gordon, Rose, Deng, or Hughes for a solid big man and a serviceable backup PG, we'd be in pretty good shape.

Agreed. But if Paxson pulled that off they would have to put him in jail for robbery. Hinrich is a serviceable backup PG making starting PG money. So the chance of anyone swapping their backup who is probably making half what Hinrich is seems slim.

I am not sure Thomas or Nocioni or Noah along with thabo is really going to get us a high quality big. I think we should package Deng and Thabo to some unsuspecting owner who hasn't figured out yet that Deng is really just a 2nd string SF
