Balkman should definitely be starting in place of Lee. (Even though Lee never officially started). Frye should start too. Isiah's draft picks are better than his free agent and trade acquisitions, but he doesn't seem to know it.

Balkman is definitely underrated. He should be mentioned as one of the top rookies, but he gets no love.

It would be hard to start Balkman because he can't hit a shot (other than dunks and layups) or hit hit free throws. Having him, Lee, and Jeffries on the court (or any 2 of the 3) at the same time would be a disaster. Eddy would be triple teamed and rendered ineffective.

Balkman needs to spend ALL summer working on his free throws (just look how much DLee improved this year) and a mid range jumper. As long as he has the drive, he can improve.

They must play Lil Nate Robinson all forty eight minutes, every night. He is the one Knick player the other team's fear.

ye its true balkman had his best game against the raptors but what about the other games we need him to step up if the knicks want to make the playoffs

I also think he's the type of player that can help this team greatly. He's just a rookie so he will be erratic. Rare are those rookies who aren't. Yes, his offense needs work but he has an instinct around the basket and he's a solid rebounder already, especially given his size.

It's refresing to see the Knicks developing players as opposed to going for the over-the-hill/secret knee problem/better days benind them/much hype and no muscle players, such as they have done all too often.

While there is room for improvement there is also reason for optimism.

Too bad that the injuries are mounting up. There has been improvement and this team is better than their records but they had a long way to come in the Larry Brown aftermath.
