Here's what the defeat signals: 3 things.

1. We let Chicago define our season last year. Between the 40 point blowout and the 4 game sweep it was hard not to. But last year was about injuries, not Chicago. But we decided we needed to be the Bulls. Or at least be able to beat them. We tried to rebuild for speed and athleticism and went away from the gameplan that won us the championship. Ironically, we may have succeeded. Chicago may be the only team we can beat.

2. Shaq is depressed. Not clinically, mind you. But no man could be going through what he is going through personally and not have it affect him, in all areas of his life. He's not the same presence he was in previous years in the locker room. His teammates and friends don't know what to say and can't help him. Because there is nothing to say other than "you screwed up big fella." His attitude has shaped this team since his arrival and it is shaping it now. This is compounded by the fact that all these poor new guys are standing around looking for someone to take charge and no one will, which leads me to the third point.

3. The new guys don't know what to do. How could they? Do you think they sat around and watched the Heat all last year? No, they were busy losing for the Timberwolves or winning with Ohio State. There is no problem with the supporting cast of Wright, Cook, Davis and Quinn. It's as good as Walker, Kapono, Posey and Payton. It just doesn't know what to do. They truly don't seem to understand, with the exception of Quinn, that they just need to fill a role. And how could they? With Shaq not himself and Wade just returning to form, Walker, Kapono, Posey and Payton would have been just as lost. The only difference is that they would resume their roles as soon as the big fella gets his head together. The inconsistency from Shaq and Wade makes it that much harder for supporting cast to find their rhythm.

A trade is only going to compound this mess. Shaq has to get his stuff together.

wade is a ball hog with weak defensive skills.

if he is recovering from injury, why the heck does he play so recklessly???

thanks for thinking of the fans.

i'm tired of seeing his fat head in commercials.

i can't believe I'm reading this...

want to know what the problem is?

Oh, where do I begin.

We have to start with diesel because he's making the most moolah.

Shaq, sorry hommie... you have you head up your rear end. You are playing like uninspired like you don't give a you know what.

GIve us the moolah back since you don't seem to care.

Fact is, you're not the player you once were, ADAPT.

You refuse to and say this repeatedly.

What happened to that baseline one-handed turnaround you did in LA?

You don't need great "wheels" to shoot that shot.

You should start looking at film of kareem.

That dude was old and was still kickin' butt till he retired.(obviously not at the level he peaked at)

Obviously not having summer and training camp under your belt makes things tough. You're about 3 months behind everyone else.

Hopefully your knee is back to normal. Hopefully.

jwill? no clue. thought you were "in the best shape of my career"?

What happened?

And what happened to that "edge" you USED to have?

It's like you're just showin' up to collect a check.... like you've mentally "checked out".

Whats up?

UD? The only bad thing is you're not taller dawg. It's not your fault.

You just can't stop sheed, jermaine oneal, dirk, duncan, kg,... or any of those other tall PF's. But you give it your all.

ricky d? oh man... you need to learn how to play d.

and learn how to get into the "flow" of the game instead of forcing it with bad shots.

i can go on...

The biggest disappointment this season has been the lack of mobility and intensity on the part of three of the Heat's starters, at both ends of the court; namely Shaq, JWil & Ricky Davis. There is also the inconsistency of that trio. Shaq hardly puts his hands up to defend in the paint and can't seem to handle the pinpoint passes of DWade; Jason takes too much time to set up the offense and Ricky just seems to be totally inconsistent with his jump shot.

<quoted text> you cant be serious? wade and shaq are nowhere near superstars let alone the greatest. well, they are superstars if you're maybe 10 years old. neither have any talent. shaq is big and wade is fast. wade cannot shoot the jumper, his defense is pathetic, and hes a turnover machine, and i dont even want to bother with shaq's old a$s. dont you ever say these 2 scrubs are 2 of the best who ever played you boy scout.
name the top five center in the history of the NBA, you are a dumb person who knows nothing about sports; you are stupid freaking idiot, gosh you must be a 4 year old girl, if u had a little testosterone in you, someone in your family would at least teach you about Shaq, you my friend is a certified [email protected]

And to the poster who said KG would kill Shaq if you saw the last 2 Boston games. KG killed Haslem but when Shaq played him he did nothing. His quickness was non-existent. Boston has struggled in both games against Miami and Shaq shot 7 of 10 in game 1 and had went 6 of 8 in game 2. All you have to do is watch a replay of the games or something but even at this state in Shaq's career he hasnt been outplayed but every gaurd on this roster has.
Thanks for proving my point for me. If Shaq was so good at stopping Garnett, why wouldn't he be on him the whole time? Fact is Shaq can't guard him for any considerable amount of time so Riley has a younger and quicker Haslem play him. Garnett is averaging a double double against them, 24 and 10. Those seem like pretty good numbers to me. Reply back when Shaq is doing that against them, unless of course he gets hurt again. Wait, too late. You can't fight age.
