LeBron puts on press for Kidd

BEAVERTON, ORE.: The Cavaliers now have a mandate . . . from the top. Following a workout Tuesday on the Nike campus in Beaverton, Ore., LeBron James barely needed to hear the words Jason Kidd to make it very ...

Kidd sounds great but......to give up Gooden, Gibson and even Hughes for a guy that will be 35 by the end of season??????? We need to be careful what we ask for.
I like Gibson and Gooden, but in reality they are both above average, not great players with limitations. They are role players with major limitations in their game. The problem is if they do go in a deal, we must get another big back with Varejao injured - and that just means more salary we have to come up with. And Damon Jones would be the only reliable outside shooter left on the team. I'm guessing the injuries to Varejao and Pavlovic (who can be traded in a few days according to league rules) make any deal for Kidd almost impossible.

How can a point guard run a team with no offense to run? You want change, change the coach. You want change, get a good backup center. Why does everyone want someone who can't shoot. Check out last night. And please don't bring the Big "O" into this,he could score. One of the reason the Cavs lost in the finals last year was because LaBron could not hit the short jumper. He has rid himself of the problem and now everyone wants to get someone else who can't shot.Remember how Larry was going to fix all of the Cavs problems? Most teams that make it to the finals and lose, FINE-TUNE their team by getting what they lacked and I don't think a non shooting guard is it. Why do you think the Spurs passed on Kidd 2 or 3 years ago when he was a much younger player?? With Kidd and Larry, the Cavs will have over 30 mil $ tied up in non-shooting guards, and I hope everyone knows, NOBODY is going to take Larry in a trade.I must say that Larry has looked a little better of late, but it's time for him to get hurt again, so don't get too excited.Only up side to gettin Kidd is the fact that he is known to get rid of coaches good or bad, which makes me wander why Frank is still with the Nets??He can't coach.
I agree with you in the sense that what the Cavs really need is another scorer, but I don't care if it's someone that shoots or can take people of the dribble, just someone else who can create their own shots to take pressure off Lebron. Kidd is obviously not a perfect fit in that regard. Kidd, however, can take the pressure off Lebron to create shots for everyone else, and can do it better than almost anyone in the NBA. He also is an incredible open court player and a plus defender. He also aready has great chemistry with the foundation of our team. His addition certainly would put the Cavs on a level witht the absolute elite teams in the NBA.

This would be a bad deal for Cleveland. We will have to give up too much to get a 34 yr old point guard who has shown in the past that his off the court problems can be a cancer in the clubhouse!!
Give up too much? Uh, the Cavs would first need to have "too much" before they could give up "too much". The Cavs have nothing. Gooden, Hughes and Pavlovic are all bums. I love Z but he's an old man that can only play one end of the court. Gibson is a nice 6th or 7th man but he's expendable. Andy is a nice sparkplug to have coming off the bench and they can't trade him anyway. Snow might be the worst spent $7 mil in the whole NBA. Seriously, you could trade the whole roster for Kidd and then fill your team out with free agents and undrafted rookies and be just as good.

If the Cavs trade someone for Kidd the history of getting rid of players in Cleveland sports means that they will do even better outside of a Cleveland uniform. Joe Carter has a ring, Bernie Kosar has a ring, Manny Ramirez has a ring, heck, they got rid of the entire Cleveland Browns team and they won the Superbowl as the Ravens. So they should trade someone from the Cavs that means they will do better.

Oh and hey Cavs fans remember when the Cavs got Shawn Kemp and we were excited? Yeah, same thing will happen with Kidd.

Now that we all have had a chance to dream, let's get back to the real world. The Cavs are not going to get Kidd or any other all-star with the contracts they have. Unless we find a GM as dumb as Minn's GM. we are stuck with what we have. We made it to the finals last year, and tell me, who out there thought we would?? So this year we have a better shooting LaBron, a better shooting Andy, Shannon Brown, and a better Gibson. You add to that the fact that Z didn't even show up the two games in San Antonio.I like the Cavs chances even if they are stuck with Larry and m. brown. It would be nice to get a all-star, but it is time to get real and deal with what we have.If we get one, fine, if not , hey, Lets Dance. The only team in the east i'm worried about is Detroit and you know the motor city has the motown sound, so i say once again; LET'S DANCE!!!!

Trade Larry Hughes....PLEASE! He's terrible on the offensive end, at least with the caveliers, and 12 million a year is a bit much for a defensive specialist. Keep Z, Gibson, Lebron. duh, and put anyone else up for trade. I think they should try to trade Hughes, Sasha, and Shannon Brown or Damon Jones.
Remember Kidd will not be around much longer, We need to bring up a new point guard behind him who can run the team when he's gone ..... who could be gibson in a couple years.

Pay cuts only work in the NBA on contracts that haven't been signed yet. Lebron taking less money right now would have no effect on getting Kidd.
As i have said before--contracts can be changed by either party--but I thought leboob was a one man team so why do you need kidd in Cleveland? All he would have to do is to get his agent to rewrite it so that Danny would have money to spend on other good players.

It's simple if you're Danny Ferry. Try to get a third team, but at the very least offer the Nets anyone outside of Lebron James. The most realistic option would be Hughes, Drew and second year stud Boobie Gibson. However, if the Cavs can swing a deal sending Shannon Brown and hang on the Boobie and acquire Kidd, Danny Ferry will win GM of the year.

If I was Lebron, knowing the friendship he has with Kidd, I will try to persuade Kidd to pressure the Nets to trade him to the Cavs.

Did anyone remember seeing team USA during the summer? Oh my God!!!! There was a sequence in one game where Lebron was on the receiving end of three passes that lead to monstrous dunks by Kidd.

For once Lebron will be the finisher that we've all been waiting to arrive rather than the playmaker he's been forced to become.

Danny Ferry, you can make up for your worse mistake when you signed Hughes to a 5 year $60 million deal if you can pull this one off.

Do whatever it takes, but you can't let this one slip away. Kidd and Lebron will most definitely give the Cavaliers a championship this season.

Dougie from Cali I out

One of the things that I think people forget about Gibson is that this is only his 2nd year. He didn't even start a game last year until the finals and mostely worked off the bench. The kid is still getting his legs. He's 3rd in the league on 3 point shots. The kid can hit. He still makes rookie mistakes but that'll come with time. He does well getting open and making the shot and is consistent in scoring in double digits. That's a lot more than I can say for Larry, Sasha or Anderson at this point. None of them are consistent, Gibson has been. Give him another year. He may not be the best player ever but he'll be good.

Danny you better pull out all your horses on this one. I hate to ay it but since Lebron well Cleveland has done nothing big except for Larry Hughes which has been anything but mediocre. Land Kidd or upset LBJ and say goodbye in 2010> I love the Cavs I just hate how our front office is so reluctant to make moves!!

Get rid of the dead weight, AKA Hughes and Marshall. Their inability to focus or be consistent is quite obvious.

You can say it, but it doesn't make it true. And the Cavs are 20M over the salary cap - Lebron doesn't even make that much, so even if he played for free, it wouldn't make any difference.

Boobie will get better, but never he'll never get taller or jump higher. He's not explosive to the rim. Those will always be limitations in his game. The best he can hope for improvement is to quit making bad turnovers and silly fouls. His ceiling only goes so high.
