Cavaliers fail to finish what they started

Full story: Akron Beacon Journal

BOSTON: Let's just state it simply: A team cannot win a road playoff game when it has lulls, when it loses its edge - even if it's only for a part of a game.

Check the foul total from last night's game, unless your one of those that whine about refs every time your team loses.
I think the game was called fair. But I agree that LeBron does go to the basket a lot and not get foul calls because his size and strength allow him to brush off the contact.

But besides that, the foul count does not mean that the Cavs got every call they should have. It only means more fouls were called against the Celtics. Their aggressive D has a lot to do with that. And the Cavs going to the rim does as well.

I'm not whining about the refs, just trying to correct your ignorance (and obvious east coast bias).

Brown knows a lot more about basketball than you or I do buddy. Have you ever coached NBA players, or do you just sit back and talk about how everybody else is so awful at doing their jobs with your Walmart co-workers? The biggest burden goes on the superstar player and leader of the team. Some coaches are better at offense, some are better at defense. Defense is what got the Cavs to the finals last year. Winning teams always play good defense. The Cavs just don't have the right players to have a great offensive team.
Brown is a very good defensive coach, but a terrible offensive coach. And a poor game manager (waiting too long to take a time out to correct things). And I think he doesn't control the team well, lets LeBron do what he wants (or is even worse at offensive coaching, take your pick).

I give him credit for putting a great defensive plan in place. But he needs to do more. Its obvious from the Cavs 2 home wins, and parts of the 3 road games that they can beat this team. But fail to hold on when they start off well.

Mike Brown diappears in a game as bad as the Cavs do....He sits watching an 8-0 or 10-0 run spitting in his cup, then he finally calls a time out and they usally come out with the same dumb no thought plan of attack..

This team also lacks a Killer insticst to put teams away, they get up and start to stall the ball in the first quarter, running clock???

The Cavs better develop a Killer instinct or they will be Spectators instead of Contendors.

Making free throws might be something they work on in a hostile enviorment,to many dear in the head lights moments for the Cavs, you would hope being there and done that, comes into play or there playing days are over for this year.

It's disgusting, the NBA very clearly want another Boston Celtics-Los Angeles Lakers Finals. Geez, Lebron's being hammered all the time he goes to the paint yet very seldom got a foul. Verajao should hammer Kevin Garnett the way the latter's been hammering Cavs who goes inside the paint.
I watched the LA-Utah game and a jumpshooting Kobe got 17 frees with ticky-tack fouls that were nowhwere half the amount of contact Lebron regularly gets.
I understand your take on the hard fouls. In the playoffs no layup mode is in effect. LeBron is just so damn strong you have to foul him hard and even then is doesn't always stop him. As for the NBA wanting the Celts to win, then how come the Caves had about twenty more free throws than the Celts in Boston?

Supposing Lebron does go to New York, how do you feel, being a Boston fan, about getting pounded by New York in basketball, like you have so many times in baseball?
Because the issue is moot, why bother to answer. Therefore, I shall put pen to paper and make a funny drawing of you.

Their inability to win in Boston is just as inexcusable -- and borderline embarrassing -- as Boston's inability to win on the road. It's the same game, fellas.....the rim is still 10 feet off the ground, and it's still 15 feet from the foul line. Nobody in the crowd can block your jumpshot. Just go out there and play.

It was a decent season though considering all of the injuries, holdouts, etc. They should be better next year at least from a chemistry standpoint. One or two slick moves in the offseason and maybe they'll actually end up as a 1- or 2- seed. It'd be nice to benefit from home-court advantage late in the playoffs for once.

Good game, you all should be very upset at your team for not taking advantage of retarded referees. 48 free throws to Boston only getting 23? thats ridiculous. Also...perosnally i think Lebron should be with the Cavs his whole career, how does it feel knowing that when his contract expires...hes going to NY? thats gotta hurt. Also, he sucks at jumpshots, hes one of the best in passing and driving to the basket, but has a butt ugly jumpshot, thats where Kobe gets the edge of being the best player in the NBA.
Thanks for taking the time to bag on our hometown hero with completely irrelevant "information."

Just curious, how was KG's jumper when he was 23? Kobe's?

Oh - and enjoy your one shot at a ring. Hopefully you can do it this year because your team is really old and not getting any better. And now that Atalnta and the Cavs have exposed you as frauds, your future is bleak.

It's really too bad, Boston. With all the fist pumping, yelling, angry faces and video taping opponents practices (sorry - that's your other team), you'd think you'd have a real shot.

That's funny, I was talking about the Celts, but it's true for the Pats and the Red Sox, too.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by our Ohio website. I've got to get going. I have three young and promising professional sports teams to root for, and they're all going to be contending for the next 5 years or so. I need my rest.

Oh, and the Buckeyes. That's like our 4th pro sports team. How's UMass or BU at football or basketball by the way?

What a crock. James gets away with walks like he's dancing on the moon with Neil Armstrong. And he gets fouls out the wazoo, just like everybody else who drives to the basket. If he's legitimately fouled, it's called.

The cavs lost because they couldn't make free throws. If the cavs had made a respectable percentage of their free throws they would have won.
