Sadly, no harm - financial or otherwise - will befall NBA players or owners.
Why?
Because ignorant, brainless, grovelling, athlete-worshipping fans will simply rush back to the NBA arenas once the owners and players finally agree on how they're going to divvy up the fans' and advertisers' money.
MLB shuts down. Stupid fans come back.
The NFL shuts down. Stupid fans come back.
The NHL shuts down. Stupid fans come back.
The NBA shuts dowm. Stupid fans come back.
We've been down this road with all the major professional sports leagues before, and idiot fans ALWAYS come back and ALWAYS hand over more of their money to greedy billionaire owners and millionaire players.

Well I’m proud to say I haven’t come back. Nor will I. I’ve found other things to occupy my time than spectator sports. The entire sporting world has become a contest of who can act more like a little girl than…well a little girl. By the time I calculated what I spent yearly on sports due to these exorbitant salaries, I decided to quit wasting my time on something I really got no physical or emotional gratification from so I bought a lathe and spend my Saturday and Sundays making cool things. Oh sure I bought other neat tools too, but they actually make me money.
