The Hard Truth

From his press conference it is obvious that Beasley isn't a Rhodes Scholar. But he seems like an earnest kid. The question for me is if he's been down a coddled, problem-filled road for so long that he can't deal with adversity, authority, or responsibility in a fashion that will allow him to be a viable member of a team.

For me, it's Kevin Love's comments that form the most interesting backdrop to this move. He clearly isn't impressed, as he hasn't been with most things Timberwolves since McHale was fired. Watch and listen to him to see if Kahn's mad scientist tinkering is coming together into something, or just making a mess into a bigger mess.

I for one like the "Mad Scientist" & his moves. Seems like a good group of athletes... Hopefully, they learn how to play together & have an attitude of "leaving it all on the court." More wins, constant effort & they'll build a following again. I'm looking forward to the season.

There are three factual errors in this article.

1. Beasley is already 21 years old. He turns 22 next January ( http://www.nba.com/playerfile/michael_beasley... ).

2. Beasley's salary next season is $4.962 million, not $4.638 million ( http://hoopshype.com/salaries/minnesota.htm ). The latter figure was his salary last season and is now irrelevant.

3. Milicic will not be joining Beasley in Los Angeles to work with Rambis, unless he has changed his mind since his recent statement to the media (see 2:55 at
).
