Loose an All-Star and then come back and talk to us. We are fortunate to have maintained the record we have. I doubt you guys would be anywhere if you lost Mo.

As a die hard rockets fan, I can tell you what skip will bring...He is a great general on the floor (i.e - he clearly lets everyone know where they need to be). He plays better than avg defence, he has a huge heart (meaning, he's loyal and will kick the cr@p out of anyone who messes with his team...see rondo youtube), he doesn't quit, he rarley gets hurt, and he is an assist king. Best of all, when someone tries to play hard D on him every now and then, he will pull an And1 playground move on 'em and bring the house down.

Rafer is solid, and you guys are getting a good point gaurd. We lost the playoffs last year only because skip missed two games (which almost never happens) due to a pulled hamstring.

I like the fact that you have as your moniker "dr james naismith" but then you say you have never heard of Rafer Alston. Nice work.

Well it is better than doing nothing.
But I really haven't heard much about Reefer, I mean Rafer - maybe even better than Nelson?
Heck, I'm on board I even broke out the Bob Marley 8 track.

Well that's fine, except for one thing. On the Houston Chronicle message board, few fans were crying about the trade. Most consider Alston a very mediocre PG, and several called him one of the worst in the league. Usually it's the hometown fans that know a player best, perception around the league is wrong, as often as not.(And we all know that Bianchi is wrong all the time.) Yes, this trade is better than doing nothing, but I'm taking a wait-and-see approach all the same. As in, one and done, two and out at best. Then again, I felt the same way with a healthy Jameer.
Thats a negative actually.....I have watched him all the time here in Houston...
I listened to the radio here yesterday, 2 radio stations and it was music to my ears.....
Big reason they traded him was he was very Vocal in the locker room and on the floor and hated this TMAC crap where he can pick games to play etc....also wanted to clear salary cap and after Tmac going down they simply mailed it in.
Brooks is good but too short...we all know how that is. Kyle lowry is potential and they are not sure what they are getting.
Ppl are mad here because they dont think Brooks can do any damage in the playoffs...ie..Jameer/Billups situation....

So no.....Houston ppl..not happy at all but some did want Rafer to be gone but just not this early.

Houston fans and the organizations are trying very hard to like this trade. Big reason is they have future potential but they are clueless on how they they go from tmac/yao/artest-Win now attitude to let brooks take control at PG.
Very mixed emotions here.

Looks like they were against it by about 8-1...just by eyeballing the first few pages.
No one is saying the guy is an all-star. Houston fans aren't...nor are Magic fans. But this was a great pickup for us and we didn't need to give up much to get him.
That is affirmative.
One of the things that I love about him is that he can be explosive and very VOCAL on the court.
He has that Darrel Armstrong mouthing off attitude on the court.
Huge spark. Especially when Tmac was on and off, Rafer has been huge for the rockets lately.

Perhaps just the ticket to give these guys a kick in the bum.
Kick in the bum" is what I like about him and the most important thing that we need.
As the matter of fact, even though he is not a great shooter but he can pour in 30easy when he is hot.
Sixx...Also, he might not be a great defender...but a very good one.

Lets just hope he starts and meshes soon with the guys.

I hope Rafer does help get the Magic past Cleveland and Celtics. Howard and the rest of the team have really worked hard to be a top tier team. But just when you thought it was safe to go outside, POOF, Nelson gets hurt. So what happens, Management makes a deal to keep them a top tier team. Go Magic and good luck Rafer,we'll miss you, looking forward to watching you and Orlando in the finals.

""" I think it's going to be a smooth transition for Alston and the Magic. He is a better defender than Nelson. He's proven he can play with stars like he did in Houston with Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming the past several seasons. He's proven he can run a club, and he's a 3-point shooter, granted an erratic one. He can get hot, though and, let's face it, that's how Orlando plays.

I love the move. Nelson is a little bit better but, with Alston, you're not losing as much at that position as much as you might think. """

This is very well put....Erratic but......exactly!!

First, let me say that I trust Morey our GM. He is an MIT numbers guy and has made very FEW mistakes; he got us Artest, Landry, Scola and Brooks.

That said, what I have heard is that we have been persuing Lowry for a while, and this was a chance to get him. Rockets brass think we got the best deal, since Lowry is young and the type of player that compliments Brooks. But no matter what they say I think this trade was all about chemistry. I don't thing Skip was happy, and he is very vocal from what I hear.

My prediction...I think Brooks will be more confident as a starter and will turn it on, and with She-Mac out, the team is much better (chemistry wise). I think the Rockets brass are only looking to try and 1. hopefully get past the first round (which would be awesome b/c Knee-Mac won't be playing and his first round legacy will continue), 2. try and re-build with (Lowry) for next year and 3. help out the locker room's chemistry.

Good luck in the east!

Good move, Otis don't like losing the pick but hey it works we get rid of garbage and gets a pg that can start the rest of the season and playoffs then come off the bench with a spark next season. Alston is also tough you have to love that he's not even the typical Magic player I like him for our team. Please now get rid of Tyronn Lue(DUMB MOVE)

Rafer
Lee
SF/?
Battie
Gortat
Great second unit right there.
No Lee will be starting next year and hopefullly Battie will be gone

Makes sense and you are on the money about how Vocal he is.....I know after recent loss he called out both Tmac/Artest for lack of effort.
That is exactly what we lack here and very exciting to get that.
