Van Gundy praises Rashard, Hedo

He's publicly called them out for disappearing on Dwight Howard 's off nights, but Magic Coach Stan Van Gundy said he was pleased with Fs Rashard Lewis and Hedo Turkoglu during Saturday's win in Philadelphia. Full Story

On the Foyle note, Joe Smith and Drew Gooden also have apparently been bought out, so they're other options.

As for JJ, I didn't see most of the game, but I was extremely surprised he got tossed. The guy just doesn't seem like the type to argue that much to me.

he was tossed unfairly... unless he said some serious words. both he and evans were called for double techs cause of some taunting and pushing. Evans went to plead his case to the ref... JJ went over to try and plead his case and as soon as he opened his mouth they gave him another tech and tossed him. JJ then stormed out like a girl scout who lost her leading position for not meeting her cookie quota for the week.

Foyle is a great person, but he's done. Smith and Gooden are probably not gonna come to Orlando. I am not loving the thought of going into the playoffs with just DH/Marcin and Rashard/Battie, assuming none of them gets injured before then.

Anyone follow the D-League? A rebounding PF that plays defense would be an asset. I would rather see them take a chance than to bring back Foyle.

""Orlando is a possibility given its paucity of frontcourt reserves and Gooden's previous history there, but I'm not sure how seriously people take the Magic's chances of contending since Jameer Nelson went out. At any rate, the Magic have used their midlevel and biannual exceptions this summer so they can offer him only the veteran's minimum.""

Ok everyone needs to calm down here. We all know that the Magic will finish their season with no more sufficient winning streaks. They will be a .500 team basically the rest of the way. I made this prediction when they were 33-8 at the halfway point in the season. Since then the Magic have gone 10-8.

I also said that they would win one lose one win two lose two..etc. And sure enough that's what they have been doing.

The focus and intensity is not there on a consistent enough basis. Especially on defense. Simply put, this is not gonna get it done folks.

When they play the Suns tomorrow night you may think you are watching the All Star game. Phoenix will do what they want in that one folks. No sense even watching it. Unless you want to see Stan Van Gundy going off on the sideline like a disgruntled postal worker for two and a half hours or so.

Besides this is their night to lose isn't it ? After all they won their last game. So they are due for a loss tomorrow night, which they will get. Then Friday night they will win against New Jersey. However they will lose two in a row after the game against the Nets. No way they beat either Boston or Detroit on the road.

So that will make their record 11-11 since they were 33-8. They will be 44-19 at that point. You heard it here first folks.

They started 33-8. They will finish the regular season with a record of 22-19 in their next 41 games.

So when the regular season is over they will have a record of 55-27.

You heard it here first folks. Absolutely no chance to reach 60 wins. Never gonna happen.

I have to agree with that.
That being said, since we do have more than 1 open roster spot, I wouldn't be against signing Foyle just so he can do what he's done the past 2 years: Help teach the other big men on the team. I used to see him in pre-game shoot arounds talking to Dwight about his play all the time.
But if we do that, I still would like to sign another big man, for sure.
And if Foyle chooses to retire, the team definitely needs to offer him a job somewhere in the organization, and then move him to some coaching position over the offseason.

id say him swift or smith is what we should be looking at. were in need of another pf not sweet lou or hedo playing out of position that's why sometimes were crushed by teams like Detroit and the suns they do have some dominating pfs.

"Stone Hands" Howard will never change...he can jump and he can dunk...other than that he is not an athlete, no finesse whatsoever he can be pushed around at will by the better teams.
I'm dreaming the Pistons come in 6th in the east...if you get my drift, LOL.

We know you don't like the Magic. Do you post on any message boards for things you like? If I hated snow I certainly wouldn't move to Alaska. Leave our message board. You can start up a JJ podcast with all of his other boyfriends. It'll be just like Flavor of Love.

Why do you spew the same garbage on here every day. Stop telling us what you think their record will be the rest of the way. Talk to us about it in May.

Even if they only get to 55 wins, that's pretty good after losing Jameer for last half of the season.

Some Info on DREW:

he has never missed much time in his career... this is his first time in his career missing time, he is pretty solid 15/10 when healthy and is a hustler... he could help a playoff team, worth the gamble (by Tony S 03/02/2009 11:19 am EST)

In the immortal words of SVG ... we have to "kidding ourselves" if we think we are going anywhere in the playoffs.

Changes need to be made.

Drew Gooden would help, but I don't remember him being the Karl Malone dominant power forward either - in fact just the opposite.

And a question for everyone ...

Aren't you sick of this "superman" stuff when DH is actually a wimp against anyone with a little force???

why bother looking anything up on him? he's not coming here. and i just found out that the suns will probably be getting stromile swift. So all the bigs that were waived, with the exception of foyle, are headed to teams not named magic. the suns also may resign courtney sims, one of the dominant bigs to come out of the d-leagues two weeks ago. magic better go for hendrix or richard and NOT old man foyle.

Cleveland just won again in Miami. I was hoping they would finish in the number 2 spot so the Magic would face them in the second round..assuming of course they get out of round 1, which they won't if they face the Pistons.

If Cleveland finished at number 1 then Boston will finish in the 2nd spot. No chance for the Magic to go up or down. They will finish 3rd in the East.

Boston will then make a joke of the Magic in the second round in 4 or 5 games.

Like I have said all along folks...you will have a .500 caliber team heading into the playoffs who will get knocked out by either Detroit or Boston.

The best chance for the Magic would be to avoid these two teams. It's their only chance of getting to the Finals.
