Magic must fight complacency

Full story: Orlando Sentinel

As a franchise, the Orlando Magic haven't been here since the Shaq years. They are, in effect, waiting for the playoffs to come to them.

Was that a knock on Arroyo? Arroyo does what he can with the time SVG gives him. If the Magic would just go back to the "Heart and Hustle" moto of the mid 90's they would blister the hapless teams they've been playing recently. All in all the Magic have showed much improvement from last year. After losing "Battman" at the beginning of the year, I thought they were going to be done up front with just Dwight and no Darcko. D12 has done great, as expected. Turk has held his own, and was an All-Star snub. Lewis hasn't made the impact we have all expected, but if we're doing this well, just imagine how we could be if Rashard turned it up a couple notches. PG, that is still our weakest position. We wont win a Championship without a real PG, but it will be interesting to see how we fair in the Playoffs this time around. Go Magic!!

We're going to crush the Knicks tonight, and I can't wait for Tuesday. I think we're due for a statement game against the Raptors.
Clap your hands! Buh, Buh, Buh, Bum!Let's GO MAGIC!!!!

Can someone please explain to me how a bunch of jocks making millions of dollars a year need to be kicked in the butt to get motivated? Come on you lazy SOB's, us normal hard working stiffs don't have that luxury. If we don't produce our employers will find others that will! Have you guys never heard of a RIF (reduction in force)? It's happening every day, especially now with the economy slumping. But you untouchable players don't have to worry sbout things like that. You get paid no matter how you joke about your job. The Magic dont need a PG or a PF. What they need are tough dedicated players who consider it an insult to lose to an inferior team.

The first quarter tonight will tell the whole story folks. Will the Magic come out with fierce intensity and destroy the Knicks like they should ? Or will they come out of the gate complacent with little or no energy and allow these guys to build up confidence ? If they allow the Knicks to come out and set the pace and allow them to shoot a high percentage then there is a good chance they will get beat. It is all about setting the tone early. What kind of Magic will we get tonight ?

This team gives it their all but the coach stinks, face it. As long as a pure shooter energy player like Redick sits on the bench, energy rebounding and hustle PF like Augustine sits on the bench, and young 7' center Marcin Gortat doesn't even get the chance to play, it's no wonder the Van Dumby's approach has gotten stale. His lineups with no height get outrebounded, outhustled, and make the Magic look plain lethargic. Effort is not the issue, stop giving that stupid excuse Stan. Lewis looks like a pogo stick and Stan has him playing PF while a natural like Augustine doesn't get any minutes just because he's young and both Van DUmby and Otis say they want to go "deep this year" or win the championship.. dream on idiots. You have to DEVELOP your talented young players too it's not just about giving the illusion you're "winning". The offense has no chemistry with Jameer, Lewis can't play against PFs and all becomes very boring to watch after a while. I think the players themselves are bored with Stan's crappy lineups and boring offense. The lack of excitement shows and the Arena only sells out against the better teams which are all more exciting than the Magic.

Let's not start with the CA stance. CA could've been a solid PG in the NBA, but when he had the chance with Utah, he couldn't control his temper. I am not saying he did or did not have reasons for his outbursts with JS.
I've followed CA's career since he was 11, and he was always the european type of PG. A creative style tha clashes with the NBA style. And once again, not saying it's better or worse, just different. CA's potential in the NBA will never develop because he can't adjust to the fact that he is not a starter. He is just not effective that way, plus the pressure that the level of tolerance is not equal among the PGs in his team. Fuenlabrada club in Spain already made public that the are willing to give him a 5 yr. contract for 30+ MM. So this might be his last apearance in the NBA. In my humble opinion CA is the most talented PG in the Magic team, but is not the talented who succeed, is the the ones who can adjust the better

I don't know if Nelson is out for a serious problem or only to give space to Arroyo for the latin night, but maybe Otis make another good decision... if he would have trade Arroyo, right now would be no PG in the game.

Anyway, good to have Carlos playing big minutes, this will give him some confidence back, and who knows, maybe we will need him involved in the future.

Horrible defense until now, but with a little more intensity we could win this game.

You're right in some points, but the rumour about Carlos going to Fuenlabrada really make me laugh a lot.

Where you read that?

This is one of the poorest teams in the Spanish league, only trying to not go back in second division.
They have no great players at all, and the payroll of the entire team didn't get 1 million.

Can't imagine how thy could afford to pay 30 millions for only one player... maybe every fans of Carlos have to put 100 dollars to make this happen...

BTW, I really don't believe Carlos is willing to left Orlando for such a team.

Totally agree with you. Fuenlabrada has never in their history has spend such amount of money for a player, correct me if i'm wrong. Last night was the inauguration of the PR professional league and the commentators were talking about PJ Ramos who was released by Fuenlabrada and they also mentioned Tau Ceramica, i'm getting to old but I could've sworn i heard Fuenlabrada but i will verify and let you know. Either way, it sounds to good to be true. If you could help me verify that info. It would be greatly appreciated.
