Chicago Bulls stink out the joint against Orlando Magic

Full story: Chicago Tribune

Maybe it's time to go bowling again. For the sake of Earl Anthony's memory, let's hope the Bulls were better at their off-day diversion than they were playing basketball Wednesday night when they stunk up Amway ...

The Bulls are light years away from competing consistently with he great teams...I'm sure all the big mega-superstar free agents are just dying to play for Del Negro and Paxson, who questions you if you get hurt...the worst thing that could happen to this team is to make the playoffs...because, then, in their mind, they are a halfway decent team, when in truth, they stink and have a horrible coach and roster with a pathetic gm leading the way into mediocrity at best...I mean, they will be dancin in the streets if the Bulls ever get to the .500 mark...what a joke...

Why is Tyrus on the perimeter so much, he can't shoot, and every time he dribbles he turns it over. The next time he shoots the outside of the paint he should do 50 push ups right there at the game so he gets so embarrassed he wont do it again.

I've said it all this season, and I'll say it again for those too dumb to know pro basketball and not rec league pick up games of "21."

DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS!

Anything less is just entertainment for the mouth breathers who like jump shots with multiple defenders drapped on them....

Mercy!

Back to spring training games, this is no longer worth commenting on. Someone wake me when the NBA lottery comes on so I can see where the Bulls pick.

These guys really do not look motivated to play in a fair percentage of their games this year. That has to go on the coach. Just because your shots don't go down doesn't mean you can't play defense.

Wow, Rose and Gordon were terrible tonight.Salmons was fair, those three carried the Bulls against the heat!
Hinrich fell over after the game, he was dizzy from all the circle dribbling.
Joakim is truly a talent, he is the best ice skater on the Bulls. He spent the whole time sliding and getting shoved across the floor! He is a weak, winded and lazy girlie man. This brain dead slug is not NBA quality and he needs to go to Europe tonight and forever!
Noah is the type that irks me the most. He isn't a player, he is a tall guy with ZERO basketball skills. I really hope this guy does some off season work for once in his career. I guess we will have to wait until his free agent season to see any skill level improvement with this guy. Hustle and energy aren't skills and those are his strong points.

Hmmmmmm...coincidence the shooters stink it up after a "break from practice" that entails slinging 16lb bowling balls...I think not! Unbelievalb VDN...geez!
Good point. When did this team earn a break? VDN should be doing everything to keep this Jekyll and Hyde team focused on basketball. Not providing distractions.

Were in game 60 something, and the Bulls act like they have never seen a pick and roll. This is embarrassing, an NBA team that can be beaten by the same basic plays the entire year. There isn't one player on the Bulls who is better today than when the year started. The team has not improved in any area. Paxson has to fire the coaching staff and assume the duties of head coach. We have become the LA Clippers! I am a life-long Bulls fan and this franchise is in shambles. Clean house, everyone must go!

This game was basically an easy practice for Orlando. You'd think Chris Rock was sitting on the Magic bench with so many laughs and smiles on that team. You know it was going to be one of those nights. The Bulls looked super slow trotting on offense and totally lost switching on defense. Oh yeah, when did Tyrus Thomas become possessed with the the spirit of Larry Hughes with so many crappy jump shots. Instead of bowling how about practice guarding the other team.
In a game like this it is tough to single any one player out but mark my words, Thomas is going into meltdown mode. At the time, I didn't want to trade him (for Amare) but he simply isn't showing any mental development. Now he is arguing with the refs on every call and getting techs. VDN has no control over this guy.

Tyrus had a stretch where his "jumper" was falling and I said at the time it was a bad thing for the Bulls. He now believes he has an outside game to go with his imaginary ability to drive to the basket? He is mentally regressing. I grow weary of the "he is young excuse". He is getting the playing time people say he needs to develop and I don't see how it's helping him. He should've been traded.

The Bulls need to develop an offensive and defensive philosophy. Notice how Orlando adjusted to Ben Gordon; their big men showed hard on his screens. They also placed their small forward on him as a matchup. What was the Bulls reponse? Right now it looks like are offense is clearouts for D. Rose, and Ben comming off a screen. On defense it is everyone stay next to your man; don't look at where the ball is and hope the rebound falls in your lap. We need a coach who is an innovator on offense, and employs sound team defensive principles.

Nada your right. Gordon is 1 for 10 3 turnovers and a minus 34. The starting 5 have 8 assists. In the "big" game at the heat, they had 18 in a 2 overtime game. If Pax tells Vinnie to let Rose finish games, is he telling him to start and stay with Gordon? I bet the whole team is tired of "helping" Gordon guard his man. and that is why they start so poorly. The games I watch shows Gordon can't guard a fire hydrant and isn't it crazy that our 2 guard isn't guarding the 2 from the other team, think Wade, Pierce, Kobe, etc..... If anyboby thinks that this team can do as well as when Skiles was here and forcing a discipline approach to the game, your nuts. Gordon is the problem, not Vinnie. I hope it doesn't take 3 more years of Ben jacking up shots because he can see the basket, before we realize it.

But what kind of basketball skill did Rodman have or what Ben Wallace has. Defense and rebounding is a skill, setting good picks and making good passes is a skill,it's not just on the offensive side, defense is a part of the game.

A defensive player with limited offensive skills only works if that player is dominant and disruptive on defense. The two players that you mentioned Wallace and Rodman were physically strong, could guard multiple positions and could hold their own in the paint. Watching Noah getting pushed around the paint leads to the conclusion that he is not strong enough to play the opposing team's center. He doesn't block out, he relys on his height for rebounding, and he and D. Rose are often taken advantage of in the pick and roll. Noah was getting pushed around last year and what was his committment to off-season improvement? He came in flabby and out of shape this year.

Jim, Rodman/Wallace were more than just hustle players. They understood basketball. Those guys were great rebounders because they understood how a shot would come off the rim and make position adjustments based on the type of shot going up. They also understood defense, the value of blocking out, rotations and screens. Noah, not so much. Those two didn't have the benefit of s 7ft frame yet both were defensive mvps. Noah shouldn't be mentioned in the same paragraph. Has Noah set one decent screen since he's been with the Bulls.

It's certainly not a surprizing game, as the Bulls have had many efforts just like it this year. The Bulls have shown themselves to be a team which will quit, and probably the frustrating thing about that as a fan is, the players really don't seem all that bothered by their efforts, whenever they do quit.

I understand that the subs need some p.t. at some point; however, i'd almost like to see the regulars be required to play out the entire game whenever they come out and play with no energy, heart, or desire. To allow the starters to not suffer the embarassment and humiliation of finishing the game by giving the bench the blowout minutes is one thing i'd like to see changed. The starters imo should not be let off the hook if they're not going to put out the effort.
