The issue with Chicago teams in general is that they don't DEVELOP players. Seems that playesr get better when they LEAVE Chicago.

That is the real issue here.

I am not necessarily disagreeing with any of the posters. Last night against Portland was a disaster. It almost looked like the Bulls were surrendering and it is a little early in the season for that. My only question is that I wonder if any of the posters here were the ones blasting Skiles last year for losing the players when at least he was able to get players to play hard? Do you like where we are now?

Pax and Skiles sprinkled some fairy dust over the heads of a bunch of good character guys, who overachieved for a couple of years, but the so-called core is no more.

The mistakes started when Pax tried to add to the core, first by overpaying for an aging Ben Wallace. He never fit in. Pax didn't do his homework on that investment.

If you saw Brandon Roy in the NCAA tournament, you knew he'd be a clutch NBA scorer. But Pax followed the conventional wisdom of picking a big man with a #1 or 2 pick. I think Roy went with the 6th pick. Two college bigs were available and Pax let Portland fleece him out of Aldridge by throwing in a player now out of basketball. Portland did its homework in that draft; Pax got stuck with Thomas, an emotionally immature young man who can't guard a big and can't shoot. Dumping Wallace required us to accept Hughes' salary--he's with us only until we can find a taker. Drew Gooden came along with that deal. He is a nice guy who tries hard, and is our best big man, but an average NBA player at best. Then Pax took Joakim Noah. Another so-called big who can't guard the position and can't shoot. I don't see any obvious stars that Pax could've gotten with the pick he used on Noah, but Noah lacks a lot of fundamental basketball skills for an NBA player. Did Pax do any homework here, or was he blinded by the flash of the famous tennis-pro's son with the ticket-selling hairstyle and 2 collegiate championships (that owed a lot to Horford and Brewer)? Norm van Lier should stay on Noah's back every night about conditioning. I don't expect we'll ever see any significant improvement from Noah or Thomas.

Rose's arrival has made it evident that a new team should be built around him. That means we're offically rebuilding. Can you imagine our roster if we had not won the lottery?

I love Ben's scoring, but he wants too much money and hurts us on defense. It's not his fault he's only 6 feet tall. He's a solid pro, but a luxury, an instant offense 6th man, for a team that has all the pieces already in place, much like Jalen Rose was when Krause traded four serviceable veterans for him. Deng is a decent player who we probably overpaid, but who can fit in here. I don't see him on any all-star teams in the future and we shouldn't be shy about trading him if the right deal materializes. Too bad we could have had Gasol. Nocioni lacks a real position, and Heinrich has been replaced by Rose. Both are decent players that might be most useful to the Bulls as trade-bait.

Primarily, this team lacks bigs. The fact that Aaron Gray is starting speaks volumes about our roster. I love the fact that the Bulls are playing hard, but they look like they'll be hard-pressed to be the 8th best team in the east.

And ditch Noah and Thomas on some deserted island for lost souls replacing them with some 6'9 to 6'11 Chicago inner city street ballers/thugs.
