"coach-for-perhaps-just-a -game"

what, the word "interim" was unavailable?

that has to be the laziest writing i've seen in a long time.

please, shape up.

It isn't lazy writing. "Interim" suggests temporary but does not give any sense of how long it could last. The writer's phrase does, providing valuable information.

The problem is twofold with the bulls: lack of superior talent and a coach who could never take them to the next level

no team in the nba could advance to the playoffs with an *%$hole coach who doesn't get along with players

"John Paxon's reputation is on the line..." What reputation? I think Paxon is more the problem than the solution. Obviously he lacks the talent to bring the right combination of players to the Bulls. He's almost as bad as Williams of the Sox, and whatchamacallem for the Cubs. Way to go Chicago GM's.

At least we won the 6 titles when Jordan and Pippen were here. But it is a shame now that the Bulls demand 56 bucks per ticket and put out a product like this. At the least they should have Brandon Roy here. At least. I do not mind them offering Deng and Gordan 10 mill a piece, someone in the league has to give some restraint. Never thought Skiles would get fired before Isiah.

I think some of the blame rests with Paxson....instead of coming out and saying the Kobie trade was NOT going to happen...100%....the team felt like they were just treading water waiting for the trigger to be pulled....and played like it....Skiles was put in a very difficult position etc....on the other hand you would think true professionals would have stepped up (as in any business in flux)...maybe our players don't understand that..they just say it...and collect their enormous paychecks.....well done is where it's at...not well said....

Scott Skiles is to basketball as to what Mike Keenan is to hockey. Great practice coaches, but they can't judge talent nor do they know how to develop it.

Skiles was a frantic coach like Collins. Neither would ever take a team to the championship. Skiles holds grudges as a coach, and the players stoped playing for him. See ya scott. Now bring in a real coach because they have enough talent on that team to win.

Size on the front line needed, eh? It would be interesting to see what this team would be like if Curry and Chandler were still around. Getting rid of those two for practically nothing is Skiles' ultimate legacy. Sure, Paxson pulled the trigger, but don't think there wasn't input from Skiles, who was unwilling or unable to get the best out of them. Now this team is neither big nor talented enough to seriously challenge for a title no matter who coaches them. Even a trade for someone like Kobe would leave the talent too thin to contend. The window of opportunity has closed.

Actually, I'm from Chicago, not Allen, TX. Strange system they have here.

At least Skiles had enough to bring the Bulls back from the pits.

"Tyrus Thomas and Joakim Noah should get more regular opportunities, and many would like to get a look at Viktor Khyrapa after barely playing for almost two years." Oh no! Please don't tell me Thomas and Noah are going to play more...I know this team is pathetic, but please, please don't let these 2 bums play more...If Noah is getting 25 minutes a night, then it's time to turn our attention to the 2008 Draft and then feee agency or trades...What is going to happen when Ben Wallace still is unproductive and a waste of money? What's going to happen when Hinrich fouls out right after the opening tip? What's going to happen when Ben Gordon just shoots jumpers, plays no defense and then gives stupid looks after the game like he has no idea what to do? What happens then? Does Paxson leave? Anyone with a half a brain knows this team blows, knows this team is going nowhere and knows this team isn't as good as Paxson thought...See you in San Antonio, where a real team awaits...I feel a bit bad for Paxson, there is a part of him that actually thinks making a push for the 8th seed is good...and Paxson actually thinks he's done a good job with this roster...wow, Paxson really doesn't get it...way to hide behind a firing...So know let's give Gray, Thabo (who can't shoot a basketball) and Noah (who can't shoot a basketball) more playing time...The Bulls will be lucky to get to 18 wins...and I think it's hilarious...

I disagree with some writers here. This team DOES NOT have the talent to win, and to expect a coach to "develop" talent at this level is absurd. Is he supposed to force "bennie" to practice his free throws? This guy cannot score even if his life depended on it! How could he prevent gordon or himrich to make the same stupid mistakes over and over? This team has to many holes and you will not over-achieve in the NBA indefinitely!

"Although Skiles' offense was creative and fast-paced,..." - were you watching the same games that I have? Heinrich standing at the top of the key dribbling and point where he wanted players isn't what I'd call fast paced or creative.

Wouldn't it be interesting to have general managers come down to coach teams when they fire coaches. After all, aren't they saying the coach wasn't getting enough from the players? It would be a perfect oppotunity to show that 1) the players could give more and 2) the coach did have the right players in the first place.

As I wrote the other day, Paxson has a higher regard for his draft picks and acquisitions that do the fans.

A coach's job is nt to "develop" players but to get them to do their assignments and run some stock plays.

The Bulls players did little of that this year, with a lousy shooting percentage.

You cannot play 4 on 5 on offense and you get that with Wallace. Skiles didn't want Wallace from day 1 and neither did I know, knowing his limitations.

The drop in performance this year from last is not because of Skiles but because of Gordon and Deng going thru the motions being in their 'Show Me the Money' year and looking to hurt themselves.
Bad advice from agents has killed this ball club. Until the players decide to play up to their level of talent and commitment, look for more of the same.

How much better could this team, as constituted, have improved from last year's mid-late season run? Enough to really have a shot to beat, say, the Pistons? C'mon...They needed that kind of coach to have a chance to just be respectable. I am especially disappointed with Captain KirDribbler - clean-cut (if he ever shaved and combed his hair :)), midwestern and very pasty - who got every opportunity to fail while others had a shorter leash...a true jilting if I ever saw one.

this is what happens when a small team plays smaller...pax has stockpiled a lot of young and unrefined (and underachieving) talent, and refuses to let any of it go to put together a decent front line or get a true go-to guy.

skiles didn't help himself by being inflexible on his offensive scheme and stingy on playing time with players in his doghouse. with our lack of size, we should be running more on offense to stop the love affair with the jump shot.

knowing how loyal reinsdorf is, i'm not sure pax's job is on the line yet, but the next few moves he makes are critical. i don't want to see the tim floyd era come back.
