Atlanta Hawks defeat Chicago Bulls 105-102

Full story: Chicago Tribune

The Bulls have been in more stretch runs than a thoroughbred racehorse this season, blowing fourth-quarter opportunities more often than not.

A lot of people feel this way but I don't buy into it. When the MJ era championship Bulls were around they were the top selling team in sports merchandise. I would think owners would want to put the best team possible on the floor to produce a top selling team that appeals across geographical markets. There is much more money to be made selling merchandise than just selling tickets. How much more money do you think the owners of the Lakers and Celtics are making than Reinsdorf right now?

I guarantee you Jerry made a lot more money during the MJ era than he is now

The bulls just have been cursed with bad luck and bad decision making. When Kirk was drafted fans agreed that he was the best option left. I don't remember too many people being down on Pax when he made the Tyrus trade. Hind site is always 20/20.

Whenever we've had a top pick in the draft it just doesn't seem to be in a year when there is a top talent like LeBron and Howard.

Is anyone wondering why Noah is out there guarding the point guards on the perimeter? I mean, he was on Joe Johnson and Bibby several times late in the ball game. Can't they figure out not to switch on the pick when the center is going to be on a guard. Atlanta just kept running the same thing and they never figured it out as Bibby single handedly won the game for Atlanta, sticking jumpers over the outstrched arms of Noah.
And while im on this Noah thing. Is any one tired of seeing Noah catch the ball at the top of the perimiter in the offense? He needs to be somewhere else because he does absolutly nothing up there. There never seems to be a point to the Bulls offense unless they are doing the run and gun.
I coach high school basketball and think I could do better than Del Negro.

Sorry Brook. You keep showing up and paying money, you can be as hard on mgmt all you want. There is ZERO incentive for change. Why do you think that 10 years after Jordan you still have d-league basketball in one of the largest venues in professional sports? Because this d-league team keeps packing the stadium to the tune of 20k+/night. If you enjoy the sport, get the NBA league pass. It's a cheaper than seats at the UC and you'll see real NBA basketball.

Let's just try to sum all these incredibly sage and prophetic observations into one or two coherent thoughts: 1) Bulls haven't drafted well; 2) Bulls haven't trade well; 3) Bulls have capitulated to mediocre players and made fiscally imprudent, long-term contracts to guys like Deng, Hinrich; 4) Bulls lack impact big man or men; 5) Bulls have squandered talent in the past by refusing to integrate them into their team (Smith, Thomas, Duhon, etc.); 6) Bulls have no chemistry to distinct, coherent style of play; 7) Bulls aren't fun to watch; 8) There is disagreement over Larry Hughes .. bottom line, they lose with or without Hughes; 9) Lack of faith in Paxson or Del Negro; 10) Failure of fans who continue to show up at home games; 11) Poor ball handlers (Gordon, Gordon, Gordon); 12) No stoppers on defense; 13) Inability to play fast-break, open court basketball; 14) No credible business plan for improving the fortunes of this team; 15) Indifference on the part of ownership (Reinsdorf doesn't seem to care); 16) Blind faith adoration of the youthful "core" of Hinrich, Deng, Gordon which have proven unwarranted; 17) Failure of ownership/management/coaches to develop younger players comparable to other teams; 18) Contentment with mediocrity. What can we do to get "change"?

"What can we do to get change?"

That's a fine question. Here would be my suggestion (this goes for the Bears, too...other teams in town seem to at least 'try'): don't buy any concessions when going to watch the games in person.

The tickets are already sold...so it doesn't make too much sense in asking people to eat that cost. However, concessions are where these teams really make a killing in terms of $$$$. So, if the team doesn't play well, don't eat/drink well.

Call if a mini-hunger strike, if you will. Do it in enough games, and management may take notice.

Outside of that, I think we're stuck with a below-par product. Which is a shame, since I really enjoy watching the NBA.
