I keep saying this but..we need to find a way to generate more offense. It's very vanilla. Kinda like our football team this past season. We also miss too many open jumpers.*sigh* We keep playing like this and it's going to be a second or third round exit out of the big east tournament. Kemba, where are you? When are we going to see the salt your worth?

The way that UConn is playing, they'll be lucky if they win at Marquette, and they're going to get throttled at Pitt. Who will Calhoun blame then?

Thanks for showing up on our board. I wonder how many Pitt haters are on the Post Gazette's board? Actually, I wonder if there are any Pitt haters? I mean, they are pretty much a nothing program until they do something in the Tournament. And the football program rests on memories of Tony Dorsett, Hugh Green and a coked up Danny Marino. Again, a nothing program, just another sport at the university.

Is better than losing to unranked Texas or Maryland. Pitt lost 2 games that Uconn won in which Blair stunk. We are thay not being called soft or fraud? By the way, the irony is that history shows that Pitts of brand of basketball "physical" or "thugish" take your spin had not got them past the sweet sixteen. Last year was the first and only time Calhoun has been knocked out in the first round. I am sure if the outside shooting of Uconn will now allow them to get past the sweet sixteen or elite eight but every program is flawed and Uconn has less then just about anybody. Pitt-Physical play means fouls in the NCCAs. Ok-rely on only a few players too much. UNC-most talent but have played no D at times this year. Mem-same street ball with less talent this year. Duke-nobody inside.

Seems like the team still misses Dyson ~ the loss to Pitt must have been branded into Thabeet's brain because he started showing a bit more muscle inside on offense ~ at the end the only thing that matters is the 'W' because every team, able or not, steps on the court with the intention to win

The Huskies showed how badly they miss Jerome Dyson's scoring punch. Both Kemba Walker and Stanley Robinson showed brief flashes of being that missing offense, but they still aren't there consistently enough. Craign Austrie needs to get his long range shooting touch back and Gavin Edwards, who has played well, but has momentary lapses on defense need to step up as well. Otherwise, all the work they've done so far this year will slip thru their fingers.

This team hasn't cracked 70 points in their last 6 games. I'll repeat that....UConn hasn't scored 70 points since they beat Providence a month ago.

This is a major problem. Defense isn't the issue. Offense is a huge concern. The fact that you can only put up 64 points vs SFU is pathetic. They have the talent...they need more scoring and more pure shooters. Dyson hurts, but he is not the only guy on the team.

Also - freethrow shooting remains awful. If Calhoun's plan is to get to the line...he might want to have players than can actually knock down the shots.

Major changes of play are needed and soon or this team will be done before you know. They did not look impressive yesterday in the least.

Your observation about not carcking 70 points is important and troubling.
Your other points re: defense, offense, and foul shooting are all very true.
The question is, where do the "changes" come from? Are Robinson/Austrie?walker going to become 12 - 15 point per game guys?
Is Adrien going to be the 15/10 per game guy we saw most of the year?
Will AJ Price lead us with 20 pts/game for the balance of the year?
Can't count on Thabeet for 20 pts every game going forward.
Where are John Gwynn or Rashard Anderson when we need them?!

Hey Marcus,

Great, thoughtful reply. My favorite part was "And the football program rests on memories of Tony Dorsett, Hugh Green and a coked up Danny Marino. Again, a nothing program, just another sport at the university.?"..

that whooped UConn's butt this past December.....and what memories do the UConn football team rest on?
