As strange a character as Kevin McHale was, he always seemed to keep his sense of humor. CC to Mr. Rambis: You'd better learn that self-mockery and self-deprecation are aspects of Midwestern humor. If your emotional range goes only east to west from optimistic to irritated, it's going to be a long, cold road you're walking. Yes, we understand that this is a work in progress. Yes, we understand that tearing the team down to the studs will produce a long, rough stretch. That doesn't mean we have to like what we see and sing kum-bay-ya while smelling the stench of a fetid franchise. You and the players and Mr. Kahn and everyone else in the organization (with the exception, I would guess, of secretaries and interns) make more money than most of us could ever dream of. You also play in a playground that was built with our tax money. You'd better get a sense of humor, my friend, and one that is not based on pastel west coast bromides. Mr. Powers has every right to poke you with a stick. I hope he continues to do so until you find a way to make this team play like something worthy of your salary and our tax money. Over and out.

I'm so glad you wrote this article with so much insight! I mean, you watched the first game... and then you watched their ninth game... Thank God our Minnesota sports writers follow our teams so closely. I put my T-Wolves jersey on for the first 5 games, but after the last 2 nights, its in the closet until after the football season. I wonder if anyone would think it weird if I wore my Vikings jersey to the T-Wolves games from now on. At some point the rebuilding phase has to end. Please let it be soon...
