Target Field is not The House That Torii Hunter Built, but the outfielder definitely will feel a sense of proprietorship when he and the Los Angeles Angels play their first game there tonight.

Hunter was a fun and important part of the Twins. The stadium was built a couple of years too late for keeping him in a Twins uniform though. That being stated, the Angels will not be happy about his contract during the last couple of years as his skill diminish.

Loved Torii. He was undoubtedly a huge part of the Twins existance at this point. They likely would have been gone without that season and the scrapiness of that team. He deserves his moment in the new statium. And i'll also say the Twins have missed his wall climbing ability in center. Span's good but he's no Hunter out there.

Unless something drastic happens, his contract probably won' be that big of a deal He's in year three of five and he's on pace to put up better numbers in year three than in years one or two.

I W/O a doubt would love to still have Hunter as our centerfielder. We went through the Carlos Gomez era with little to cheer about and currently have Denard Span who would still take a backseat to Hunter IMO. Span has been nothing to cheer about defensively and has alot to be desired as a leadoff hitter. I realize that baseball has sadly become big business and all about big money which makes it hard to keep a team together but that's life and we have to live with it.............

The fact of the matter is, that Hunter does not have the skill to play center anymore. The Angels found that out and have move him to right. Hunter was great to watch in his prime, but the last couple of years in Minnesota, his lack of "Centerfield" speed hurt us. No Span is not the powerhitter that Hunter was ever. And no he's not the acrobatic outfielder that Hunter was, but he gets to more balls than Hunter ever did. I do wish that the Twins could have found a role for Hunter, but the Angels paid to much for him at this stage of his career. His time as a cemterfielder has passed him by. I know he'll get a well deserved ovation when he's announce.

Hunter was indeed demoted though the Angels put some spin on it. Moving him to RF set him off when he got suspended from the league for his tirade against the umpire. Yes, his skills are beginning to diminish. He's still good but will not be worth the money the Angels paid him.

Thank you for listing other bloated contracts.
