Chicago Cubs stumble, lose 11-6 to Houston Astros

Full story: Chicago Tribune

Ted Lilly joked before Tuesday night's game that Ryan Dempster never should have tried to imitate him when he jumped over the dugout fence three weeks ago and broke his big right toe.

Oh well. Can't win' em all. Unfortunately the Cardinals are winning late in their game. This thing could see-saw all summer. It's good to have Aramis back; you never feel like you're completely out of it.

Good game Dempster/Bullpen. Thanks for showing up.

Should have taken advantage of Oswalt having to leave early.

was this a throw away game , at home? Why did Dempster not have a minor league stint. he wasn't pitching that well before the broken toe who would ever think that he would be successful the first time out of the box. If this was a Hendry decision than it is time for him to go. If this was an away game i'd give him start a maybe, but not at home when the team is playing well. plain stupid.and hasn't the team gone long enough without a run producing catcher and second baseman. both are available. to win, cubs need a serious upgrade at these positions.we've written extensively about Bradley, no sense beating the horse any longer , he's here.Lou's double switch was double stupid at that time. He puts his career minor leaguer who can't hit anything against a lefty and he strikes out looking every bit as bad as he always looks against lefties. he is not the answer. he is a minor league skilled player. This division can be won , though the cards have improved greatrly, but i have little faith in Lou and Jim,or is that bud and lou , or abbot and costello?

Hey you made an appearance. That is what a true trash talker is supposed to do. If you can talk smack when your team wins, then you have to show up when they lose. Well done.

It's time for Brewer fans to go away until next summer. After getting pounded in back-to-back games at home by the woeful Nationals, it's clear that they're out of the race - if not mathematically, then certainly logically.

There's no C.C. Sabathia riding in on a white horse to save them this year.

Dempster was a train wreck tonight. The CUBS should have trounced Houston without Oswalt pitching.

A ball hit into and lost in the ivy has happened umpteen times at Wrigley. A ball lost in a pitcher's jersey is one for the record books.
Mark Buehrle throws a perfect game and then retires the next 17 hitters he faced is also one for the record books.
Strange days, indeed for both sides of the great city of Chicago.
Hope springs eternal and life is good.

Surprise! Aaron Heilman gives it away again. Has he taken the torch in a long line of terrible Cub relievers? I think so. That guy gets beat more times than a dirty rug flapping on a clothesline. Hate to say it but he's the white LaTroy Hawkins. The only time Heilman should come in is if the Cubs are down or up by more than 7 runs. Get rid of this stiff.

Daily Horoscope for January 2

Capricorn

Self deception will be the main issue today. You may be judging your situation wrongly: don't hold back, say what you think diplomatically and without being hurtful. This should result in a positive mental outlook for you. Competitive sports activity will ease any stress or tension.
