Weak choice for top 10.

Good baseball player. And, if I recall, made a significant 5 figure donation to SOS.

But one of the top 10 individuals who "made a difference" in Hawaii??- it's in Hawaii, right? Maybe top 9 or 10 for an East Coast baseball team, or even a division, or League. But Hawaii?

^shane also does a lot of charity work on maui during the off-season, so yeah, he does make a difference - a lot more than the average joe giving $25 to the AUW, anyway.

Why is this article listed under "10 who made a difference?" What difference did he make besides doing well for himself. I thought the article should be about people who made a difference to their community. I like Shade and I wish him well, but this article does not state one single item about him making a difference. What a joke!

Second year for the golf tournament. Raised 100K last year for Alzheimers Research. He's done a lot more than most for his community.

What is wrong w/us the readers? How about what is wrong with the writers or the Star. The article did not state or list anything about him helping kids or with anything else. How about better writers or a better editor?

I don't know about any of his charitable work but nowhere in this article does it note any. I am left to think that, whatever it it, it doesn't mean anything to the author or the SB and is thus irrelevant to his nomination.

I don't understand why he would be given this notoriety given that the article just describes him doing what he is so well paid to do (and arguably does well). This article more correctly belongs on the sports page as a year end retrospective.
