If Green is being overworked at 11.2 innings thus far, then the same may be said of Brian Stokes (11.0 innings) and Bobby Parnell (10.1 innings). So who, then, does the pitching? Sure, the starters could take some heat off by going 7, but that doesn't appear realistic with this high pitch count staff. This is where the "bridge" relievers earn their dough. No; this isn't about being "overworked", it's about being ineffective. And Green's pitches have found a bat in most of his appearances. In those 11.2 innings, he's given up an unacceptable 17 hits and 6 walks accounting for 11 runs. In a comparable number off innings, Stokes, in his 11.0 IP has allowed only 9 hits, 2 BB and 0 ER. That's being effective. Yes, Green's workload should be monitored closely. But not for reasons that Davidoff suggests.

The fact is, Omar does ot know how to put together a solid team, Manuel does not know how to manage a pen, and the Mets do not know how to hit situationally. They will still probably finish second. All they need is a good baseball brain somewhere in this organization to remedy the situation.

Green is doing a wonderful impression of Aaron Heilman. With an ERA of 8 and a half he should be the mop-up man and let Stokes take the 7th.

It sounds like someone is reading my posts about why we had those 3 pitchers pitch 2 days ago...
Green is this years Heilman. He is being used way too much and hasn't really done well in tight situations. They just brought up that 40 year old lefty. Why didn't he pitch? |

Can someone find one reason why Manuel took the biggest innings eater in baseball out of the game last night?
|
