That was very painful to watch. However, as much as I want to blame Linebrink solely....Getz has got to come up with Hoffpauer's one hopper....and the HP ump blew the strike three call on Soriano.

All that said, Ozzie fell asleep at the wheel. Why wasn't Dotel brought in to face Lee? As good as Oswaldo was Wed., he was equally bad today.

I had enough of linebrink. I heard the Sox were winning 5-1 in the 7th. When i heard they lost, i knew linebrink was responsible. Sure enough i come home, check the box score and was correct.

I guess Linebrink thinks the second half of the season started already.

Getting beat sucks. Beating yourself is excruciating. Linebrink handed that game over by hanging fastballs to a team that can only hit fastballs. The Cubs offense, unfortunantly, had very little to do with their win tonight. It would have been nice to have gotten beat flat out, but Ozzie managed himself into a corner and deserved to lose this game.

Linebrink should have been sit down after the Lee homer.Instead he is allowed to put the ball on a tee the next pitch.Poreda should get a shot at that job.Linebrink could be moved in a trade, throw in Fields and teams might listen.

Linebrink has got to be put in a mop up role. If a team is within 6 runs leave him on the bench. This guy is poison. He hasn't been effective since early last year. I am so done with this guy. You can blame errors, bad calls, whatever. The main thing is he can't get anyone out. Ozzie didn't want to huirt his feelings. What do you think he did to the fans watching this meltdown. Stop worrying about personalities and lets win some ballgames.

From now on, he will always be known to me as Scott LineSTINK.

The ground ball to Getz was a difficult one to field. Although he could have knocked it down, LineSTINK still should have gotten out of that inning with a lead. Don't forget Getz's two doubles.

Getz also made some great plays earlier in the game. The ball hit up the middle was a sure hit, but he dove for and got a double play, I believe. Linebrink should have been able to pitch over that error. Didn't he almost blow it Wednesday when BA had to make that catch at the wall?

I don't want to see Linebrink either. He has turned to garbage...wasn't really anything special in the first place. Kept hoping they would bring Poreda in before the blow up. He pitched great in Milwaukee. The Cubs didn't win this game, the Sox gave it to them with the 8th inning decision or lack of decision.

Ozzie gave Lou an early Christmas present, No way Linebrick should have been allowed to pitch to Lee and then Soto, I don't like "Oh no" Dotel either but he should have been in for Lee or Soto, and why not bring in Thorton to close the inning ? For as good as Ozzie was Wednesday he screwed the pooch Thursday !

Lamebrink was a home run pitcher in the NL, before being signed. Questionable acquisition at any price but $20M?

Bad enough that we are stuck with him for three more years at $5M per, but Sox lost one or two draft choices as well. Does anyone know who was taken with those choices or which they were?

No wonder Reinsdorf complains about overspending!

If the roles were reversed and either Gregg or Marmol gave up 4 runs in the bottom of the 8th, Cub fans would be saying that they gave the game to the Sox. Let's not pretend it would be any other way.

That was a tough play for Getz.
If a 1B doesn't scoop a short hopper, he doesn't get an error.
Why did Getz get one?

How does Kenny Williams plan on winning the championship with a questionable bullpen?

He's more worried about the fielders. I don't think that's where the real problem is.

The bullpen has been very good and will be better with Poreda up.

Yeah, there's nothing like a left handed Kyle Farnsworth clone to help out a pen. Maybe Ozzie was wrong when he said 4 days before he was brought up that Poreda shouldn't be with the club until he develops a second pitch. Oh well, guys with one non braking pitch always do well when they get to the Pro's.
