Veteran left-hander Scott Eyre bade a tearful farewell to his Cubs teammates Tuesday after being designated for assignment to make room for the return of closer Kerry Wood .

man, chicago is a hard place to pitch, if you cannot get people out. i am a local product,east chicago, and the fans booed me mercifully, i had to ask to be traded, because the situation was getting a bit scary. i feel sorry for scotty, but another team will pick him up.
