believe the story is lacking , I assume the MLB means while on the field of play ?????????

that I agree with . while in the dugout , that is a new horse ...???? exception on this occasion

That seems to be the case. It seems that is allowed pregame. The commenters on the other board think there is more to it, that there is an exclusive uniform contract involved, that the uniform manufacturer won't let them wear anything they don't make. At least there is a simple solution to that - New Era could make commemorative caps, then MLB would be free to decide otherwise without violating the contract. Since it would then be standard issue, then it could also be consistent across the league, and none of the internal politics around allowing some teams and not others.

well the purpose is to prevent celebrating all types of events ,, but an except should have been made here .. once in a life time

Let someone get the OK to market those caps, make some money on the deal, and see how fast it gets approved.

But unless a dollar changes hands, the answer will be no.

I fully understand the word "uniform", but this instance is pitifully weak bullsh!t. One instance, one game, would not cramp the universe.

However, it would set a precedent, and MLB doesn't want that hassle. Hence, the decision.

That is what a commenter on the other board said. They said that New Era, the official MLB supplier should make caps in honor of 9/11.

what happen was that on the original date it was also banned , but the Mets ignored it while the Yankees honored it .. Yankee manager , Joe Torre , person who made second ruling , the same Joe Torre
