He simply wants to see one thing from Olson that he hasn't seen in a while - improvement.
There will be no improvement I say he's will be gone by the 4th inning ! |

Olson is very consistent - he's always bad. Actually, he's a combination of two future hall-of-famers. He throws as hard as an old Greg Maddux with the control of a young Randy Johnson.

If Trembley is waiting for Olson to "command his fastball", he is going to have a long wait. He doesn't have a major league fastball but a left hander who can command his curve/slider can be a good major league pitcher and contribute to the staff. In ancient times, Dave McNally, Mike Cuellar, Mike Boe.and some others did not have power arms but they had pinpoint control with their breaking stuff so they became good major league pitchers. I don't see any other way for Olson to succeed at the major league level.

Are they even considering bringing up anyone who is any good?

Actually, Olson did not pitch too badly. In the first five innings, he gave up back-to-back solo homers, and that is it. Ran into trouble in the sixth. Certainly NOT GREAT, but better than his previous four or five starts.

Unfortunatley the game insn't five innings long. 21 starts this year and has gone over 6 innings 5 times!!!! |

Anyone else notice a slight trend here? 10 more friggin walks again tonight. This team really REALLY smells. They will finish 69-93.....just like last year. Are they the laughing stock of major league baseball......HELL YES! Can someone tell me if they've set a major league record for walks and hit batters??? If so, they probably broke their own record. Yikes!!!!

Walks man, walks!! This entire staff reeks. They are a complete joke. They are the only team in all baseball without one single dependable pitcher. And this means the future is very bleak. |

Yes, I understand that. My point was that this start was not as disastrous as many of the previous ones. You have to start somewhere. |

Let's see. The Orioles were praised for spending $17M a couple of years ago for bolstering the bullpen when they signed Baez, Bradford and Walker. Baez was a bust and then has been hurt. Bradford was a nothing who, they ended up trading for a 'player to named later' and Walker has given-up 11 HR in 34 inn. and opponents have a .620 Slg. pct. against him. Flanagan should go down as one of the worst GM (or whatever title he had, as they don't have a GM) in Orioles history. But I see they are recovering by having the most walks and wild pitches in both leagues over the past 30 days. When they do throw strikes, the lead the majors in ERA at 6.23! |
