I don't know about the Twins players, but nothing would motivate me better than Monday's game. Watching A-Rod and a couple of other Yankees giggling like kids after the 4th run would have been all I needed. Too bad Bert wasn't pitching, he'd have put his best pitch in A-Rods ear.

EXACTLY my rants of the past few days. This team neeeds to show some seeds and put an end to the disrepsect they get..instead they sit back and take it..and take it..and take it. To have someone on the other team laugh at your futility is pretty sad and something a normal person would actually take offense to ..but not our Twins, they just hang thier heads and walk away, same as they did last fall in the playoffs. It starts at the top with Gardy, he needs a kick in his fat a55 to get him and this team riled up a bit. Show some character, show some pride, stop being whipping boys for the Yankees....

It's important to note that Mauer came all the way from first base to score on Young's bloop double. Mauer did a lot to help the Twins win the game. He is the guy who has to lead. His patience paid off with the walk, and he should what makes him such a great hitter with his single through the drawn in infield. And, Mauer caught a good game after the first couple innings when Duensing was hanging pitches. Duensing is a cool cookie, too. Except maybe Pavano, all the other Twins starters would have come unglued for sure. Instead, Duensing improved to give the Twins five scoreless, uneventful innings.

Young has some fundamental issues going at the plate. It's surprising that a hitting coach doesn't say something. For Young, it's simply a matter of sticking with the baseball from pitcher's hand to baseball bat or catcher's glove. He's looking a bit too soon to see where the ball is supposed to be landing. His big hit at-bat, however, was a good one.

"Should" should be "showed."

Wouldn't it be great for the Twins to win this series now and go home with a winning record? Too much to ask? Well, most of us would be happy if the Twins could take one more game from the Yankees. Mauer, after playing a great game, will be on the bench as Butera is back on-line to catch Pavano. Maybe Gardenhire will have an opportunity to use Mauer as he did Morneau last night: to pinch hit and stay in the ballgame so the bats are in the lineup for the late innings.

Deunsing responded well after those initial innings. I think he will be fine as the season unfolds. He's a young, talented pitcher with a pretty good upside as he gains experience. Really good to get that win!

....to keep the Florida fan section rolling...Yeah I was going to give up around the 7th as well, which I almost NEVER do, but I was behind a couple innings on DVR, and my daughter texted me to keep watching. So I did! Thanks to my girl, ha! OH, and welcome back Joe!(Nathan for pitching and Mauer for hitting)
