#42 didn't have too good of a game for the Sox. I'd change numbers if I were him.

The Good; Contreras pitched well enough to win-..........The Bad; Sox lousy offense in general and specifically Quentin and B.A. failing to put the ball in play with a man on third and only 1 out....... The Ugly;MacDougal`s pitching,Clayton Richard attempting to field a bunt and Fields booting a double play ball.

Enough of MacDougal & Owens .How many chances do these two get? Owens only one at bat but he's never going to hit MLB pitchers it appears. MacDougal simply is not consistent & Richard not exactly great either.Podsednik will get called up soon I hope to replace Owens & hopefully Sox will give MacDougal a one way ticket to catch that plane Mikey wrote about.

How about the Tribune investigate the 'man-crush' infatuation Ozzie and Sox brass have with Contreras. Slow to the plate, can't make a big pitch, same story as last year. I give the guy credit for his comeback but he'll be about 3 and 8 at the All Star break and Ozzie will continue to tell us it's all about to happen. watching Contreras pitch is absolutely painful.

The thing is no other team wants him in a deal, and the Sox will not simply eat his $10 million contract. If he was worthwhile trade bait or had a more affordable contract, he'd be long gone. He's been washed up for two years, going on three.

Once again the Sox will live and die by the long ball. Home runs are great, but when they are you're only run support, you'll lose alot of games. Consistent base hits with runners on has been a problem the last couple years. Need to get back to small ball. That's how we won the series in '05. AND STOP THROWING PITCHES OVER THE HEART OF THE PLATE!!!!!!!

McDougal now this guy sucks ! and how is it that after 4 of our players almost get hit in the head by pitches that the Sox pitchers can't plunk a tiger in the A $$ with a pitch ? Send a dang message that we are not going to take that crap, in the 7th Fields about got killed and then McDougal does not have the balls to hit a Tiger, I'd rather see him do that than try and pitch, hell if he was throwing at the batter maybe he would throw a dang strike ! Sox batters took the day off, the pitching well get used to this when Jose pitches, 4 good inning is about all will see each game from him.

I usually enjoy Mark Gonzalez job of reporting, but this negative crap about how Tampa is going to run us ragged is going a bit far in prognosticating. Lets face it. Jose won't be pitching all 4 games in Tampa. He pitched well today until he ran out of steam but as far as holding runners on, HE NEVER HAS.
One other thing I'd like to get off my chest (since I just finished my 5th cup of coffee) is that I've always enjoyed Hawk announcing the games, and I even liked Stone when he was doing Cub games. But I gotta tell you that these two guys together with their egos running wild trying to outdo each other with their storytelling is really starting to get on my nerves.

LETS GO WHITE SOX!!

Member,
What it means is that it is better to get beat 9-0 than 1-0. 1-0 falling into the category of a "heart breaking loss" that could play on team morale, while being beat 9-0 is a "laugher" that won't bother the losing team as much a getting beat 1-0.
I hope that that makes sense to you, but if not please feel free to call on me at anytime to straighten you out on any phase of the subject of baseball.

I think that the Sox could win this whole thing this year if they would use the "Hidden Ball Trick" more often, there were a number of times today where they could have used it.
I would also have every runner that reaches first try to steal second on the next pitch, A runner on second has a much better chance of going home on a single than one on first.
Also do away with signs given from the dugout, Ozzzie should just run out, call a powwow at the mmound and explain what he wants them to do on the next pitch. Missed signs can cost a team the game, and so can stolen ones. Not to steal signs should be agreed upon by both managers prior to the start of the game.

funny? no, it's sad. very very very sad. i don't understand this infatuation with stolen bases...wake up sox fans...

and to the guy who said so called 'small-ball' won us the series in '05...wrong. we still hit a ton of homeruns...pitching won that trophy.
