Zero to 18? How about zero to 15? The next 15 games up to the trade deadline are critical in determining whether the Sox are contenders, or just pretenders. If they're serious about winning this year, then now is the time to get hot because .500 baseball over the next half month isn't going to cut it.

Baltimore is beatable and the Sox need to establish themselves in this first series playing good, solid baseball. Otherwise, they're meat for Tampa, Detroit, Minnesota and the Yankees. All four of those teams are better then the Sox right now. The schedule doesn't get any easier after the Yankees with a series against the Angels and a six game west coast swing in mid-August. After a breather playing home series against KC and Baltimore the Sox hit the road at the end of August for what should be their toughest road trip of the year. They play four in Boston, three in New York, three more in Minnesota and the makeup games with the Cubs.

I'm sorry but I don't see the Sox as a contender after August.

And it will be a long time before the Cubs will have it maybe another 100 years.

Wow you have it all mapped out that was so easy. I don’t know why they even play the games. Major league baseball should just release the schedule at the beginning of the year and then go through it like you did and pick the winner. The NFL schedule is released, if you don’t mind please go through it and post the results of the season. I would rather know now as opposed to wasting a Sunday watching the games.

CC was saying that this is going to be a dog fight and I agree. If KW can bring in some help and it won't be easy it still will be difficult.Better defense,Q getting back to 08 form and solid pitching can keep this team close.

Not a big surprise that someone calling themselves a die hard Flub fan would ask that question, now, is it?

The starters got to be on top of their game. This team won't be as prone to a hitting slump as the teams of the last couple of years. Too much speed and youth, not just the fence swingers. Only team that scares me in the group coming up are the Twins and it's because of ther park, not their team.

If this team learns to play consistant we have a great shot at the division. It seems like they put it together lately compared to early in the season and we have a tough schedule but I like our chances with the 1-4 starters. 5 is a big question mark. The bats are better, but the defense does scare me. Every team is one or two injuries away from taking a nosedive in the standings and the Twins and Tigers aren't showing that they are much better than us. Just get in and see what happens.

The number three toughest to strikeout in the history of the majors is Nellie Fox. The toughest player to strike out in the majors now? Jaun Piere by a long shot. Go get Jaun Kenny, he can put a lot of pressure on the opposing team and Ozzie hasn't forgotten how Florida did it.

You mean winning is better than losing?

Genius.

BTW: Thome's got some nerve talking about staying on top of a championship after his '08 postseason.

Hey thanks for reporting the schedule for all of us!
We'd have had no way of finding it on our own.
Oh, and the Sox will be contenders in August, unless they completely run away with it.

The Sox aren't going to get Piere because the Dodgers aren't going to trade him (unless a team makes a very overpriced offer that the Dodgers might not be able to refuse).

Do I have it all mapped out? I wish! I guess only time will tell. It's just hard to look at the Sox schedule and realize that they're committed to giving every fifth game away with Clayton Richard pitching. Carlos Quentins return will be a big boost - if he's healthy.

The Sox have plenty of trade bait - they put twelve guys (12!!) on the double-A allstar team - if they want to aquire a rental CF and fifth starter. The tricky part will be deciding who to trade. Tyler Flowers (C), CJ Retherford (2B/anywhere) and Jordan Danks (CF) will be major league ready by September and should get a call-up. Those three will be with the Sox on a full-time basis next year.

Why would the playoff-bound Dodgers give up Pierre?

I so sick of that lousy 2005 Sox team - All the Sox fans hated that team before the season started - Then after 17 out of 25 guys all on one roster have career years all at once -They win it all. That will never happen again in the history of sports. That was the worst WS team ever. They should put an * in the record books and take the trophy away

Speaking of white s.ux traditions -

1) Disco nite - the only time in MLB history that a team had to forfeit a game due to fans destroying the field.

2) Drunk "fans" come out of the stands to attack opposing team members/staff.

Priceless !! Notice Bozo holding the trophy. Remember s.ux fans; if what you did yesterday still looks great to you today, then you haven't done much today, have you?

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Scorpio

Your thoughts turn to the past today, putting you in a nostalgic mood. You're awash with sentimental tears as you dwell on days gone by or gaze at photos of people you'll never see again. However, try not to let this mood of reminiscence turn into a tendency to feel sorry for yourself and therefore to demand special treatment from others.
